I don't have a firewall, or technically any antivirus software. I am on a win98 box and have been trouble free since I bought it new in 1999. I don't open spam and I run AdAware and Spybot monthly at least.
Yet my parents computers are basically crippled at home (100 miles away) from virii and the like - they put Norton on one I finally wiped clean and got rid of everything, but it still runs like crap. So what is the solution?
I can confirm that in most every case, Budget is really winning this contest. New trucks (I can tell you Uhaul horror stories about 30 year old trucks with 350k miles, given to me for a 1000 mile move), generally cleaner, nicer offices and so far friendlier staff. Oh, and in almost every case they are cheaper. Kudos to budget.
I have a Celery 500 with 256 win 98 and on board graphics and I can play any format i have ever downloaded fine and watch full movies in Divx and XVID without crashing in the new WMP. so what the hell are you talking about?
If I won the lotto, I would purchase 100k of these babies, and sell them for $125 plus shipping. bingo bango bongo!

i dont know what you are trying to download, but moral and legal issues aside i have a "friend" cough cough who downloads new and recent release MOVIES and TV episodes (Sopranos, Stargate Atlantis, etc...) on a regular basis, and I have never got something that was "fake", though maybe less than 5% of the time something has been mislabeled (for example I downloaded Spiderman 2, turns out it was Spidey 1, so I looked and found the correct file(s) and was happily on my (uh I mean my friend was) way to viewing that movie for free, just like my friend has done for Troy, Riddick, Van Helsing and so so so many others.
KazaaLite K++ still rocks my world, bro.
I sell overseas all the time, mainly to Western European countries and Japan. I used to sell a lot more, but now I put United States only in my Ebay auction, but when an overseas buyer contacts me and says they want this item, and are willing to send a US dollar money order then I ok it!
People overseas have been excellent customers of mine, it might not be wise to shut them out, I know I have made a lot of money from these buyers...
A band called Self (www.selfies.com) has already created and released an entirely toy-instrument based album titled "Gizmodgery" - search Amazon for it. It was released on Dreamworks in 2002. The US version is out of print, but the Japanese import is still available. It is a brilliant album of REAL songs, not jokes and I would recommend checking it out.
Check www.selfies.com, they may have some downloads available.
goes way beyond top 40 bud, i am downloading 5 BOOTLEG (Outcesticide) Nirvana albums as I type this and they are FREE (Not the usual penny per mb)
TOns of rarities, etc... that goes WAAAAY beyond top 40.
If the rest of the world would pull their head out of their ass, then ALLOFMP3.com would be the model for the world!
You can choose to encode (most songs) in Ogg, AAC (for your ipod), mp3 from 128 to 364 or whatever + and its cheap as hell! Even if it was 99 cents a track and they had the marketing push and legality of itunes then itunes would have a major competitor.
I would love to know how many tracks have been sold on allofmp3...it has to rival itunes if not surpass...
why would anyone pay this? i don't purchase anything on ebay unless they list the shipping charge and it is reasonable.
do NOT dismiss ebay. if done with any amount of logic then buying and selling there can be a safe and enjoyable experience. be smart people! many, many frauds are accomplished b/c people actually expect to get a hot selling electronics item for 50% below retail (or more)? use common sense.
i have made over 75% of my income for the past 2-3 years from selling on Ebay, and i have probably spent 1-2k on ebay over that time as well. in over 95% of the cases (that i can recall) the transaction went smoothly, whether i paid by PP or check. (Now PP is a whole different story - i think they are a group of thieves - they have stolen from me by saying the account needed verifying, etc...)
by the way, i have 100% positive feedback.
those who frequently say on slashdot "anyone who spends over $20 on ebay is a fool" is a fool themselves.
ebay has changed how the world of selling works. instantly you can find out how much something goes for in the open market. instantly you can offer something for sale to millions of people.
last year 300,000 used cars were sold on ebay.
ebay is here to stay - YES there is fraud, YES hopefully it will get better, but for ebay to be what it is (a whole new way of buying and selling) in less than 10 years, there are kinks to work out. it will be done, and ebay is here to stay.
Exactly, this is what the WWW was great for back in the day. When I set up my first "homepage" on geocities back in 96 or 97 people would e-mail and say how they enjoyed it...
I have actually searched google for a tour of the now deserted Chernobyl, b/c a friend in the Marines got to visit there once. Her story and pictures are excellent...
the camera can't format it right out of the mini- you need a compact flash reader. the drive mounts fine on a mac or PC. you need to format the drive to remove a special ipod partition that apple has made. after that it's will work fine in your camera... it's not a quick drive though... it's going to take a bit to transfer 4 gigs of photos over a usb card reader.
Man, Summer Games was great! I loved the cliff diving. And does anyone remember BeachHead?
My C64 was fun as hell growing up, not to mention learning to "crack" a program and seeing "Summer Games - Cracked by the Daveman" or whatever on load up!
Man, fuck them. I get the feeling everyone down there walks around feeling like "I am a great adventurer, I live for x amount of time on the South Pole!". If it wasn't for adventurers like this guy in his homebuilt, these fuckers wouldn't even be down there. Just give him the fucking fuel and let him be on his way. Compared to the millions spent every year by the Coast Guard and police saving idiots in their sailboats and falling down wells this is nothing. So what if a few planes end up down there every year? SO FUCKING WHAT - just help a brother out. FUCK YOU ALL DOWN THERE AT THE POLE FUCK YOU
Locally, a delivery driver for Coke was recently fired for being seen drinking a Pepsi while on a break on his route. Same deal here - this dude had it coming. MS has a right to not want some snot nosed temp giving them bad advertisements.
I just priced the 7 texts I had to buy for this semester - I paid full bookstore price since I had to wait on my student loan and by then all the used copies were gone (a whole article should be written on this practice!)
Total I paid for my 7 books: approx. $600 or a little more
Total from just amazon.co.uk after converting from pounds sterling at the current rate of 1.67 to 1:
$312, all of the exact ISBNS
from gobuybooks in India (converting from Rupee to Dollar): $28 - that is not a misprint TWENTY EIGHT FUCKING DOLLARS.
of course i have no idea how ordering from India would work out, but I have ordered from the Brits amazon and it worked out fine!
so in conclusion, i am going to do a test run from India, and if the books show up I am going to advertise this like crazy, I am talking commercials on local TV for my new Import biz!
I have over 25,000 local college students available to me in a 10 square mile radius.
Exactly! Because of people's continued fear and ignorance to exploring Nuclear power as a viable and safe alternative the world would be a MUCH better place.
Maybe if some of these celebrities would lay off of preaching for PETA and actually examine a real world problem some awareness could be brought to the masses.
As for PETA - a PETA bum tried to shove a bunch of graphic chicken factory pics in my kids faces yesterday (I am an elementary school teacher). I threw him off the property on his sorry ass (after the kids had gone back inside).
NUCLEAR POWER FOR THE WORLD!
well i could respond til i am blue in the face but it would be pretty silly saying "but i'm not ugly!! please believe me!" since no one knows, or cares what the hell somebody posting on/. looks like. i am just saying someone on the cover of a magazine with "leader of the free world" plastered across his face has one unattractive wife!
i stated my opinion and qualified it as opinion, and i stand by what i said.
my mistake, but if you see the above link by another reader, the actual wife of Linus looks like a younger, stockier bulldog. you know those bitches are from the same litter!
man if i could afford a house in the hills, i wouldn't marry anything that looks like that. and while i have never banged any supermodels, every girl i have EVER went out with looks better than that mutt!
flame all you want, i dont give a **** it's my opinion! i enjoy the tech stories on slashdot, not here for friends. since he was talking about his wife i was very interested in how she looks, and god bless Google Images! of course i am a shallow, horrible person - but I bet there are more like me!
According to the US Fair Debt Collection policy cashing a post-dated check before the date on it is illegal and a sueowrthy event on the part of the consumer. I don't know anything about the legality of anything else, but I don't see how writing a date on a check that is in the future would be illegal - it seems there would be plenty of valid reasons for doing so.
Why do that when the government has proven itself utterly incompetent so far?
god damnitt! lets bash the US government for their utter idiocy! they are so stupid, our money isn't the absolute best system on earth, god I hate america!
shit man, we are the most powerful nation on earth. the money works, people like it (i love it), and it works. yes it might be easier to counterfeit, yes it might wear out, blah blah blah. if you think the american people WANT new money or WOULD EVER switch to Coins over paper then you are smoking crack.
here's beating a dead horse: move to Europe and use their pretty, perfect money and bask in the utopia that is the absolute shit heap mess that is the European community.

that is always my complaint when buying stolen goods - lack of accessories!
