Oh yea....sure spam sucks and popups suck...but deal with it? And maybe getter smarter with your email names and don't pass it around freely on websites....it will make your internet experience a lot better:)
Why does EVERYONE feel like EVERYTHING has to be regulated and governed!?
Sure there is spam, sure there are preditors, sure it's full of stolen movies and music, and you can't forget the porn....but so is life!! And we already regulate the hell out of it and that doesn't even work too well.
So tax payers should pay for this governance why? It will do nothen but restrict our freedom. Increase cost to run a website, a ebusiness, pretty much to do anything. I feel this is just another attempt by rich business men to hog tie the internet for their pure profit. They dont want competition and they dont want people sharing information on that dasterdly deeds them and the politicians do.
If we govern the internet and regulate it too much it's not going to be the internet we know and love.
and yes, I realize this topic is more deeper then I have touched on...but I have better things to do then research it all up. So keep that in mind when you respond. I know how you/.`ers get...
I was talking to this girl the other day and her boyfriend had ended up in jail with an 8 year sentence....because he make a mistake when building a radio or somethen along those lines. I guess thatever it was that he did, was ended up intefering with local police radios. From what I gather it was unintentional but he still got locked up.
It's good to have faith in the system
This is just another example of where the government should stop doing its own projects and giving money to private firms and universitys instead to do all its biddings. Look at all the money we are going to save with private space vehicles and a telescope made by a university.
I wish the courts or something would step in and say it is not the governments job with taxpayers money to protect intellectual property. Especially pursuing the people themselfs. The damn companies can get a supoena or sue them but I do not feel it is law enforcements job to hunt these people down and incarcerate them.
Yes but that book is payed for and not supported by pictures of coca cola cans between pages. You can do what you like with it (other than make and sell copies) since it is payed for and not sponsored.
Personally I read everything just so I can see others view points, though I may not agree with them.
First I would like to say, everyone comparing fastforwarding through a boring part of a movie or skipping past a boring part of a book as being illegal by this law are just dumb (not trying to flame). Advertising pays for your free television channels or keeps the prices down if you have a pay for service.
With that said, yes, they can not force you to watch these ads and I do not believe there should be laws created to guarantee you can't bypass these commercials. I for one did NOT sign any agreement with any television broadcasting company saying that in exchange for free entertainment I would inturn watch their brain washing commercials.
What happened to our representatives representing the PEOPLE. Though corporations might have some of the same rights as a person (though not being held to their crimes like a person) they do not qualify as a person and should not be represented as one by our politicians.
This government was created by and for the people and I for one do not feel that these types of laws represent the best interest of 99.99% of the population of the United States. Tax payers money should not be spent on educating children on copyright laws. 1) It's ineffective, we've all been to school.... 2) Why not start spending tax payers money of educating kids at school on why product A is better than product B?? Or better yet they can teach us about Jesus!!!
Maybe there should be some laws seperating corporations from state as we do with religion and state. And for the same reasons too....
I looked into this since I am going to be int he bay this weekend and thought I might swing by. They are not even playing Counter-Strike, they are playing Condition Zero. Now that's just lame!! Hardly anyone plays the damn game. Valve/Sierra?? must of offered some insentive for the tournement to have Condition Zero and not Counter-Strike.
It's a shame....I would of really liked seeing some of the best CS players going at it. Sigh...
My girlfriend and I were both going to drop about $500 each on some 19" LCDs. We were just about to finalize the order when we decide to read up on some of the features. There is a display lag on most LCDs of about 17ms or so. I have heard the 17" LCDs are a little kinder but not by much. So we decided to hold off since both of us like to play FPS.
I am glad I caught that issue otherwise I would have been VERY angry for forking out all that money for S&H and then sending it back. Hopefully soon we won't have that issue
I don't think you have taken into account that most cd's from even great artist only have a few good songs and a bunch of bad songs.
So with that in mind I will have payed $17.99 plus tax and drove to the store so I could listen to 3 good songs.
I could download it for free or pay $3 for three tracks. Seems like a good deal, but it's a bad deal for the artist either way. This is a new distribution model too. No time flat they will change it and in some way or form it's going to screw the consumer.
And what about the artist and their money?
Though 50cent has some catchy songs and got real popular, I don't feel it is moral to support this piece of #$!% human who use to gang bang and might still. He glorizes gangsters, takes pride in that he got shot 9 times and wears a bullet proof vest, and in the mean while he gets filthy rich and the RIAA gets even richer for feeding this BS and this image to children. Plenty of examples of that in the mainstream rap/hip-hop genre.
I say the RIAA needs to go. There are other ways to distribue music and advertise now.
I am a DTV installer and I tell my customers to just wait. Why pay $400 for a receiver or $1000 for a HDTivo when the price will drop in a year or two and DTV will actually have more HD programming to offer then.
I feel the prices for the equipment are to high and there is not enough service provided. Even Voom which specializes in HD service barely has any channels and most of them are only HD part of the time.
Thats awesome that DTV is going to expand its HD service though. I can't wait!! I bet prices will go down by then too.
Perhaps I have the wrong experiment name but anyhow it was in the pacific and it involved the navy and they did set off a nuclear bomb underwater. My mistake.
My Grandfather was in the Tuskeegy (spelling?) experiements when he was in the navy. They had them all on boats in a circle and had no idea what they were there for. The government set off an atomic bomb under the water. He said it was like nothen he ever seen before. He lived to be 65 and the only kind of cancer he ever got was skin cancer. I guess he just got lucky. The people that had to be or went on deck died almost instantaniously.
No mutations in the family yet BTW:P
You obviously haven't seen some of the camcorder copies floating around the last couple of months. They're just slightly under DVD quality. Pretty impressive infact. If i was the MPAA I'de be worrying too.

Have any of these scientest stopped to think of the impact this kind of technology would have on society and the world on whole?
If everyone lived to be 100 just imagine the consequences!!
Increased pollution, social security _would_ go bankrupt, unemployment could go up (since peopel would retire later), etc.
I think this line of sciene is highly unethical and could have diare consequences for everyone. What do you think?
Since when has pissing off the American public mattered to the government? If they really want to do something....they will do it. I dont believe changing the patent system would be considered unconstitutional or break any laws, specially if it's for the betterment of our capatalist society.
Patents are to protect the creators idea. If I was to mention a completly original idea to someone, then they ran out and come up with a physical copy before me, patented it as their own idea, I could possible be screwed from millions/billions of $$'s. Of course there are alot more problems that may arise from that patent system, to take into account, But I am sure you can come up with some for yourself.
Look what happened to Steve Jobs (Microsoft)
Hopefully this will eventually cause change in the American patent system. The current system pratically stifles competition and clogs our court systems, costing millions to tax payers. I mean, come on, why should one click shopping be considered a patentable idea?
The big stink latel has been tha 9/11 COULD have been prevented if suspicious activities and intelligence were actually investigated. But they weren't because, I assume, they didn't actually expect someone to attack the USA.
Good for the FBI for checking up on these kinds of information requests. It's this kind of action that could of prevented 9/11
I feel though, that the information should be givin to him after its deemed he is no threat. Otherwise there will be a snowball effect of what information should be shielded from people, for fear they may use it for terrorism.
Imagine chemistry books being banned just because it could provide information on chemical reactions for bombs. (yea i know this is far fetched)

GREAT question. This i've got to see!!

Just imagine all the malicious porn pictures that will be circulating the internet forever. Upside is that there is more free porn ;)
I for one was very disappointed with this movie. I suggest waiting for a bootleg or rent it :P
Angelina Jolie's roll was minimal and the graphics were nothing special. I've seen better graphics in video game trailers.

I was always told that if a law broke a constitutional amendment it was null. So how could the DMCA take precedense over the 1st amendment?
