Odd. For me, it just responds "The document has no data" and keeps displaying "Sending" in the upper right corner. Am I supposed to do something special?
Well, there's me. I've never seen anything wrong with slashdot on firefox. I've heard that the problem is fairly noticeable, so you'd probably know if it came up. What is it, anyways?
While we're on problems I haven't seen before, what is up with the comments about "nothing to see here, move along" or something like that?
Or you can just use the flashblock plugin. It gives you a nice overlay over all flash, with a space to click to enable if you actually want it. Works great for me.
Amazing, I didn't actually expect to run into someone else like that. I've had a problem similar to that ever since I started going to school (I was homeschooled for a while, so I guess that's why I didn't see it earlier). I used to enjoy doing schoolwork; now I loathe it. It's come to the point where it's not really worth it to me to do all of the work to the expected level for an A. I've pretty much given up bothering to do most assignments because, when I do, I do it to my satisfaction and go well above the expected level and still get the same grade as someone who BSed well enough for a 91%. I'm only failing 3-4 classes at the moment, but that's because that's all that I'm taking with my screwed up schedule.
I've tried to explain this to many people, including my parents and 2 physcologists, but they generally view it as "just an excuse" and refuse to listen, let alone actually try to understand it. (They ultimately decided that I was depressed, which is expected when you've just failed 3 courses junior year in high school and are about to be expelled). So, while I'm not really surprised by grandparent, I still find it pretty sad that most people don't see that perfectionists are screwed over because they want to do something properly.
I wonder how many other/.ers have this problem as well. It can't be that rare; I know one or two others with similar problems.
I'm probably missing something here, so please correct me if I'm wrong. But you seem to forget that the attacker doesn't know the length of the password. So, your method wouldn't work- there's much more than a million offsets.
OK, this doesn't sound right, but I can't see why, so I'll post it and let a better math wizard correct me.
My fear is that many, many companies will rightfully feel threatened by this concept. It would allow us to make pretty much anything for the cost of the raw materials (very cheap). We'd quickly see things lize open source food, clothing, computers, everything. This would (understandably) destroy most industries as they currently stand. I hate to sound paranoid, but they will not let this happen.
CPU intensive solution? It seems that you are forgetting the vast armies of zombie computers. I think that this would only increase the demand for zombies, and therefore increase the number of worms...
SP2 has only caused problems for several other people I know. For some reason, it introduced massive instability into 3 of our laptops(1 Compaq Presario R3240 and 2 Dells). My roomate's computer kept crashing after about 10 minutes of WoW. It has only crashed twice since he removed SP2. In fact, I don't think I know anyone that has SP2, even though local network policy is that you need SP2...
In other words, SP2 seems to have some stability problems. Anyone else have that problem?
Are you sure? About 5 years ago, my little brother had the brilliant idea of using a U-bar key (might have been Kryptonite) to try to open a snack vending machine. It worked, and the key came out with the cylinder. We couldn't get the key out of the cylinder, but the machine was open.
Anyone care to verify/explain this? I think that this means that vending machines are vulnerable to the bic pen exploit...
WTF? Am I being especially stupid, or are there infinitely many solutions to the question on the above site? I mean, there are infinitely many functions that satisfy f(1) through f(4)...
Good point. Anyways, isn't it good to have the hatred out in the open, where it can be seen, monitored, and (if necessary) dealt with? At any rate, it's better than denying hatred exists and then being surprised when something goes wrong because we were all in denial...
I've noticed that people seem to believe that most scientific stuff they see in movies or TV shows is true. I don't really want people to learn junk science from movies... among other reasons, that means that I have to deal with decisions based off poor assu, ptions and correct people's mistaken beliefs. I don't mean to overly criticise most people, but... good movie physics is a good thing
This will probably be a problem if we augment, repair, and eventually replace our bodies with much more sturdy, capable mechanical bodies. It sounds far-fetched, but look: we have artificial joint replacements and are working on cybernetic arms, what's so hard about a whole body?
Anyways, this will lead to an interesting question: What is the difference between a human-like intelligence in an artificial body (a sentient robot) and a human intelligence in an artificial body/
of the jokes some friends of mine used to play with the Sprint Online Relay. Prank calls mostly, but I've heard that someone tried to call in a bomb threat or something with it to cancel school...
So, basically this is nothing new.

Speaking as an AdBlock user, no.

Me too. Who could resist drawing Big Brother's attention to him :)?

Personally, I prefer the following. Write it in correct notation and you'll see.
The integral of e^x equals f of (u subscript n).
My calc teacher showed us that one...
I actually saw a U-bar key (I don't remember the manufacturer) inserted into a vending machine lock remove the cylinder. So, it might work...

It's not like we actually do anything with that... don't we all keep a spare keyboard to bash on to look productive when boss boes by?

Actually, I heard that Dean was also Skull and Bones. Anyone know enough to confirm/deny this?

a bunch of babbling loons.
You insensitive clod!
On behalf of the Babbling Loon Society of America, I resent your post
COLTON is really gay

I'm more curious about how he managed to eat a 10 minute struggle... Do we have a 4-dimensional guy or something?
