    few hours fucking around with hard drives, or five minutes smashing old hard drives that are too small to be worth someone's time reusing (really who needs a 20 gig hard drive)

    You just described the blackberry os security model, the only real discrepancy is that it is less granular on storage, you cannot specify which folders to allow it's your whole SD card or none of it

    it works pretty well like that, some apps are well designed and work in the limitations given, some are less so and crash out or fail to run properly but you can fully control if an app can read your contacts or connect to the network or simulate key presses or use your camera

    I can read a map just fine even using the street index to find where I am, but that doesn't do real-time re-routing when a highway exit is closed due to flooding

    You must have been going to a different borders than I did, around here there was one big one and the layout was confusing and disorganized and the selection was worse than the BN of about the same size. They also had several horribly overpriced mall stores with big displays of guiness book of records and ripley's believe it or not

    my thought when they announced borders was closing was more bewilderment how they lasted this long than anything else

    If trusted boot is used to deny people's right to hardware they lawfully purchased I expect to see attacks of both technical and legal natures succeeding against trusted boot.

    it's not a bad idea in general as long as the owner of the device holds the key.

    Blackberries usually have a blackberry data plan, mine is 15 bucks from att and includes 200 megs per month, due to RIM's server side pre-cook for the browser it is tough to exceed 200 megs a month

    if you want to do something like that now all you need to do is record and analyze input patterns from regular controllers, redundant or excessively long button presses and repeated attempts at disallowed actions, significantly lower than average (for a particular player) numbers of actions taken in a minute (not counting walking around) and significantly worse than normal reaction times would indicate boredom or lack of attention Redundant button presses along with high actions per minute would indicate excitement.

    all without creepy "computer is watching you" shit

    I would consider buying this as long as the selection is good enough. There are plenty of times I have wanted to listen to a certain song and was away from my pc or it was a song I did not have. 10 cents is not a bad price for this.
