Is the lack of a 4 gig ram limit really useful? Is this a marketing ploy? If you want to use the keyboard as a professional sampler you might need this much RAM. Samplebanks of real instruments can get quite large, 1 or more GB is quite normal. The samples are stored in RAM to keep everything up to speed. Reading them from disk would be a real bottleneck in performance.
I would rather have some guy off the street spying on me than the goverment
Ummm, can't they both just leave me alone? You make it an either/or choice. I wish it was that simple. Sometimes the government has to spy on innocent people. I hate that, but I know it is neccessary. And sometimes the guy in the street is harmless, but just curious.
how much new information is being generated per person, per year
When a person rips a cd to mp3, does s/he create new data? And when s/he copies existing mp3's, is that new data? I think it's impossible to define the term "new information", unless you go with the strictest definition: before the information was digitally genarated, it did not exist in any other form. Only then it is new.
If you piss someone off who has a lot of modpoints you just have to bear the consequences. Sit it out, cool down. That's what I did, and currently i'm posting at +1 again.
You could install linux (gpe or opie) on your ipaq, and use the built-in pim functions. The pim should be able to sync to your desktop apps, although I didn't try it yet. See http://www.handhelds.org for more information.
No, but the nsa can then say that they trusted a fine company, instead of trusting some "open source movement". when a government needs to ensure things, it also needs to cover its ass. and a company looks more trustworthy than something like an international group of loosely-associated programmers.
And try to get your surroundig neighbours to install nodes. Wireless is right now very often a community effort. In the area where I live Wifi is seen as the best way to connect users in rural areas to the ISPs in the cities. Find some people on the line-of-sight to the nearest person who can get ADSL. Then join the connection with your neighbors, even if they are miles apart. This way you can share costs and knowledge.
(again:) www.wirelessleiden.nl/indexuk.html is an example of what I mean. Right now they are serving farmers who live some 15 km (10 miles?) from here.
And you never had to work that out? Where did you get that knowledge? That's what is keeping me busy.

In the Netherlands there is an experiment going on with WIFI, www.wirelessleiden.nl
Right now I can use the 'net all around the center of the city I live in, Leiden (of Pilgrims fame). In a few months a commercial ISP will provide internet access through the wifi-network. Quite how they want to make profit, I don't know. Still, it's cool to walk with my Ipaq (opie linux) in my hand and see all the networks around me. Most people just think I'm playing with some pda or gameboy.
No way! How can such a prime example of american business be a terrorist? Terrorists are the guys that fight govenments. McBride is an american dude trying to make money. He also will pay tax, so he is a Saint.
i use webmin (http://www.webmin.com) to configure shorewall, and nmap to check the ports.

Why don't they just ducktape the inside of iis? Quick and dirty, but it works.
geeks are. Nerds are just geek wannabees. One is born into nerdness, but it takes an effort to become a geek.
The cradle of Linux was standing in Santa Cruz, according to Darl McBride...
Since more and more phones are running some kind of windows, I expect both.
Time is a dimension. any good marketing droid can safely claim it is true 3d...
Data on a cd is digital. A copy of digital data is not new information, as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I'm missing something?

Why do you think you provoke such reactions?

FYI: i did not mod you down.
If you have a microdrive or a large cf-card, it's possible to run linux from that, and keep the original software (almost) intact.

When there are problems, it's easy to sue a company and put the blame on them. It's almost impossible to sue the Open Source movement.
But are you gonna be the supervisor? I'm not gonna watch that...

Connect joystick. Pretend to use keyboard and joystick to play game. Watch crowd go crazy when the car is going round the room.
Agree. But in the real world (at work) we usually don't get the time for such luxury,.

So you are omnipotent?
I hope somebody understands the irony...
