Don't you understand how many people work on Gaim?
Do you know how many bugs are fixed?
Do you know that because of the modularity of Linux and Gaim itself, virus creation is prohibative at best?
Did you know that the fact that many exploits are crushed in only a week or two makes it nearly pointless to exploit?

And it is Gaim or gaim, never GAIM.

I've heard a recent statistic about DVD players. The cheap low-end DVD players that cost $40 in China are for sell for $41 dollars in the US stores... A 1 dollar profit margin cannot be enough for anyone to not get the short end of the stick except the Chinese. Maybe we should all just buy domestic and Japanese high-end profits to protest the low prices? Who really knows, but what is the point where hardware is sold for a loss and why?

Today I've fixed 2 computer instances in class, one of a Novell Login script problem, and the next with bi-directional support for a Lexmark printer turned off. As far as I can see, I'm the ONLY person who knows how to fix all of the Novell login problems at school and basic hardware/software failures at school. Technologically, most computers in classrooms are Pentium II and 500MHz P III at best, and in the labs we have 1.7GHz P4 machines. All are Dells and Compaqs, and I must say, nobody knows how to use a computer to the point of trouble shooting in school other than myself and my math teacher. My Computer Science teacher knows quite a bit, but I've been called out of class still to fix administrative printer failures... I am a hacker, a social engineer, I have the administrator passwords throughout the school. Is there a problem with this? The fact that students must operate a school? Why are there no teachers that can fix a printer? Why are there no technicians at school? I goto school to learn, but for 3 hours a day, I'm fair game for being sent off to perform tasks that could be performed with little seminars for faculty and students. For something's sake, I'm not profiting, I'm not going to get any recognition, I am a slave to the failing system of the new society.

What says that the FBI hasn't opened your TCI box and inserted a recorder? I suggest you check now if you are worried about plain-text sent e-mails and VoIP backdoors and the like. Anything electronic can be digitally encrypted. When you have a direct link such as a telephone, there is NO encryption and it only takes a tape recorder to have your phonecalls in a FBI database, unless you go and buy a phone that encrypts your telephone calls and distribute them to your friends. But I think the FBI could spot a red phone quite easily.

  25. Mozilla being OSS on Mozilla Developers Respond to Malware · · Score: 1, Insightful

Mozilla is Open-Source Software, therefore any exploits there may be, are easily discoverable, in this aspect, proprietary code would seem more invincible by default eh? OSS is more than just a team working on a project, it is a quest by those to search for better and more stable software. I ask you today, since that OSS relies on contributers of code to fix many bugs that may pass by developers, and therefore can we really blame Mozilla for the exploits in their code? Look at Microsoft for instance, when their code was proprietary, exploits were found with brute force, when the Windows 2000 source code leaked, a person made a BITMAP to exploit the core of the OS, tell me, which is worse?
