Exact same thing happened to me, exact same amount of money.
My friends who visit there frequently said to bring the following: 1) Wads of $1 bills, claiming it's all the money you have. 2) Fake jewelry. 3) Playboy (they can't get it in Mexico)
Personally, the big fonts was my biggest pet peeve, and they just lowered it to 10, which is a huge improvement. Of course, I'll still be lowering it to 7:)
