I welcome this trend towards ONE peice of equipment to do everything. This will allow me to carry one peice instead of a camera (and it's respective bag, accessories etc.), a phone, a pda, a computer, a music player, a note taking device etc...
I agree. Also, to whoever decided to deface the page, I am sure the slashdot community agrees with me when I say that you (whoever defaced the page) are very immature by doing this.
Morons like this should be banned from the internet.
If you're going to install it on your 486, do us a favor:
1) Stop complaining about long installs, it's your fault.
2) Read the instructions because it should take nearly that long.
3) Install from binary... that should shorten your install time 100000x fold.

What were the chance of finding two similar rocks on two planets which don't even seem to come from either one. Just think about it... we found this with a small robot scanning an area substantially smaller than the whole planet.
I'm going to get my tin foil hat... methinks aliens planed this.
Perhaps it's time that computer science curriculums start teaching assembly language first.
Here at University of New-Brunswick (Canada), they may not teach assembly language "first", but we do have a second year course dedicated to assembly and the inner workings of computers. My only problem though at the school is that we learn the Motorola M68HC11 cpu and not current ones. Sure it's easier to learn and understand, but most computers we work on today are x86 based.
Great idea and all, but his construction looks a little "mickey mouse". I hope that his telescope doesn't Fall apart to well. I think i'll stick to my nice shiny telescope in a big white tuben.
If your going to go that far... why not just patent the action of breathing. Everytime somebody takes a breath... they owe you a penny. I figure by the end of the week you won't know what to do with you're wealth! You know what actually, since I came up with the idea... I'LL PATENT IT. YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE!
So somebody offers a cheaper alternative to store bought CD's. This allows the artists to actually make money (note sarcasme). AND THEY'RE COMPLAINING.
Yet another reason not to feel guilty for downloading. I wonder how long this stupidity is going to go on.
Ok now off to my Professional Practices class. Where I get to argue with the teacher that downloading music isn't as ethically bad as he tells us.
Thank you! I was gonna say it but you bet me too it! Capturing Saddam IS a good thing amongst all the bad things in this world. At least some of us (you) can see this.
The only thing necessary for the thriumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Wherever you stand in the Macs vs. Windows debate, this much is certain: In Linux, Gentoo, RedHat, Mandrake etc... has taken an already sparkling, super-stable operating system and made it faster, better equipped and more secure.
Ok for the users at home. Let me see if I get this right.
$229 for Word
$229 for Excel
$109 for Outlook (Checking email is expensive)
$229 for PowerPoint(For presentations at work and stuff)
--------------
$796 Total
Now if we look at say... OpenOffice.
$0 for Word Equivalent
$0 for Excel Equivalent
$0 for Outlook Equivalent (ie Evolution)
$0 for PowerPoint Equivalent
--------------------
TOTAL $0
Now considering that the start up cost for a home user is $796 (not including Windows XP), and then a linux user can type "emerge openoffice" (for gentoo users) and just download it for other users (ie Redhat), I know were I stand. Benifits of open source.
1. You don't have to call to activate your micro$hit.
2. It won't cost you an arm and leg
3. You don't have to walk to the store. (although you could and buy the nice prepackaged distro's with manuals and such)
4. If you need help, customer service is in the forums or on an IRC a few clicks away, as opposed to 200+ dollars in long distance trying to explain to some micro$hit service rep that you can start your computer anymore because outlook decided to somehow fry your CMOS because of a new vulnerability.
5. Did I mention it's FREE?
I was always told that the 'K' in KDE didn't mean anything. It was just picked because it came before L in Linux. Meh... anyway congrats to the KDE team for bringing me a good working desktop environment all these years. If it wasn't for KDE, I wouldn't have switch to linux. Cheers!

You got it all wrong. It would cost money to destroy it anyway... so technically, saving this doesn't cost anything.

IMHO reviews are not worth the time and effort to read. Go see the film yourself and decide. That's the only way.
