If anyone can suggest an equally effective deterrent to invasion that requires an equal amount of manpower, I'm sure the US Army would like to hear about it.
Easy -- use seismic and optical motion detectors. Once the trigger goes off, surveilance cameras can check it out. Send personel that are already at the border. Sort of like what's already being done at the US-Mexico border.
finally! bendable e-book screens would be a hit, and it'll be old-school just like paper! Next thing you know it, people will be choosing old-school curved CRTs over flat-screen CRTs!
Speaking of hamburgers, ground beef claiming to be 100% US ground beef tend to have less than 80% beef on average, research shows. Maybe that's a positive thing right now, with all the BSE scare.
the article states that the glove will have a "wick structure" that will raise the liquid from the hand up to the arm. What gravity-defying structure is this?
From what I understand, copyrights cover implementations, patents cover ideas. More explicitly, copyrights cover original expression, patents cover inventions. Even today, you cannot receive a patent unless you could demonstrate a working invention. Otherwise there would be tons of patents about anti-gravity and perpetual machines. The apparent problem with patents in the US today is mainly caused by the patent office accepting frivolous "inventions" or companies (e.g. Unisys) suddenly charging royalties after it becomes widely implemented without royalty.
ooooo... i have those nights! I think it partially has to do with the brain lacking in chemicals when sleepy that are needed for creating new memory how about a voice recorder by your side? those things can be great!
actually, using Apple's student discount, the 20gb iPod can be CHEAPER and SMALLER than the Karma. It's interesting to see how the future 4gb version of Nitrus will compete with the mini.
that's a 14% price increase (not 37.5%) for a 46% volume increase. and you can get an even smaller ipod for $100 less than the Karma, if you're not looking for a gigantic harddrive. i think everyone complaining about the price is partly because a lot of people want one so much.

Hm, at some sites the option for streamed media is between Windows Media and Real, in which case I like Real better because WM requires your browser to support Active X, unfortunately.
I am not as upset at real about their opt-out feature -- I got so used to these kinds of things these days.. I always give fake info as much as possible when registration is required.
All I'm saying is that often times different ordering feels more natural to different people because of their cultural bias and not because one ordering is inherently more logical or more natural.
Neither does Japan. I think dental correction is mostly an American obsession, but they don't realize it, so they think the rest of the world has a problem (like the A4 vs letter size issue).
Shanghai Nights also poke fun at British teeth (at least in one shot).
-- it's natural to give the most important, biggest, part first.
If feels natural to you because of your cultural bias. Japan writes addresses in what appears to be reverse order to US order. (i.e. country, prefecture, ward/city/town, region, etc. etc., surname, given name). And sentence structure is a similar phenomenon. English speakers think Subject-verb-object is a more "logical" or "natural" ordering for everyone because they're used to it, while other people that use SOV, VOS, VSO, etc. languages think their ordering is more "logical", and "natural" for everyone.
Anti-Americans who boycott US companies that are moving jobs off shore in order to stay competitive in the international market are only creating a weak US that will easily be crushed by foreign competition, which would lead to even greater job loss in USA.
"Major investor" doesn't always equate to a controling interest, and in XM's case it certainly doesn't. In their press releases, XM says their "strategic investors include America's leading car, radio and satellite TV companies - General Motors, American Honda Motor Co. Inc., Clear Channel Communications and DIRECTV." Far from owning the company, Clear Channel can't even manage to be first on the list...
I've taken a business writing course, and they specifically tell you to hide the negative stuff by not putting it in the very front or at the very end.
while we're at it, we might as well compare those accessories with the iPod mini, shall we? Here's what comes with the iPod mini:
Earbud headphones, belt clip, AC adapter, FireWire cable, USB 2.0 cable
The whole package costs $250.00.
From the iRiver website:
* Backlit remote control with 4-line display
* iRiver earphones
* Carrying case
* Installation software CD
* AC adapter
* USB 2.0 cable
* Line-in cable
* External microphone
* Printed user manual
Furthermore, iRiver iHP-120 costs $399.99! *ahem*...
I think the real issue is that removing 1 million landmines is cost prohibitive.

LCD's are thin too, but that wasn't my point.

Its winter here in the northern hemisphere, the heat generated by a computer running warms the house.
That's great, but the power supply fan is really loud. So off it is.
How about:
;)
NASA: REPEAT 1000 [ FORWARD 20 RIGHT 160 ]
Ahh, the good old LOGO days...

Actually it was some restaurant in Long Island (or was it New York?) that did this, and every media on Earth picked up on this.

Awptimus is saying that slashdot's summary is misleading (as often is the case), that's all.
So, your body notices the core temperature dropping and says "Crikey! Better shut off those extremities even more."
Only in July, though. Right now, it's hunting crocodiles!

Funnier still because songs by the Beatles aren't sold on iTunes Music Store (in the US).
actually, using Apple's student discount, the 20gb iPod can be CHEAPER and SMALLER than the Karma. It's interesting to see how the future 4gb version of Nitrus will compete with the mini.
er, the other way around.. ipod (non-mini) is 14% more expensive and 68% the volume of the Karma. so it's not like you're paying extra for nothing.
.62) = 6.10 cubic inches
karma (3.0 * 2.7 * 1.1) = 8.91 cubic inches
ipod (4.1 * 2.4 *
Rio Karma 20 $350
20gb iPod $400
that's a 14% price increase (not 37.5%) for a 46% volume increase. and you can get an even smaller ipod for $100 less than the Karma, if you're not looking for a gigantic harddrive. i think everyone complaining about the price is partly because a lot of people want one so much.
$250 iPod mini 3.6" x 2.0" x 0.5" = 3.6 cubic inches, 4 GB
$250 Rio Karma 3.0" x 2.7" x 1.1" = 8.91 cubic inches, 20 GB
That's a 60% smaller form factor.
It depends on what you look for in a player.
