Should I include consideration of the laws restricting operation of the latter two private companies, and the special benefits the first one gets,
of course. The latter two companies are really suffering financially because they can't deliver "letters" cheaper. I don't see how they can compete and survive!
DHS was created with glue, not raw cloth. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of the budgets of the child agencies prior to the consolidation and after though.
I didn't like the creation of the DHS as it's just another inefficient government bureaucracy.
I agree.
I think the Patriot Act was nothing more than an exercise in removing our liberties.
I agree
I'm against nationalizing the Student Loan Program, but not the idea of student loans.
I agree
I think the FDA should stay away from regulating supplements.
I have no opinion one way or the other
I also think programs that help the disabled are a good idea as in vast majority of cases they cannot help themselves out of their situation, but that with a helping hand they both can and will improve their life.
I agree
I think entitlements for those who can help themselves are a waste of money, degrade the people who use them in the long run, and are dragging this country to financial ruin.
I agree, but I am also a realist and understand there will always be people that will game the system to their advantage. Why do we allow corporations to game the system with no repercussions?
I hate greed and corruption in all their forms.
Hard for me to disagree with that.
We as a nation have lost sight of what made this nation great. The educational system has taught the younger generations that the US is evil rather than educating them on why and how we became the greatest nation on earth and the principles of government and personal life that made our rise to power inevitable.
???? not sure what specifically you are referring to. While I think the US has done an incredible amount of good in the world, we have also done some very bad things and to ignore them or sweep them under the table is asking for them to be repeated by future generations.
I don't want "everything" that Obama does as President to fail, only those things that are contrary to the principles our nation was founded on.
OK, I would agree with you there.
As he thinks the Constitution is flawed and the Bill of Rights needs to be revisited I'm naturally going to be opposed to most of what he does, but I'm not opposed to what he does just because he does it.
I thought the previous administration tore up the Constitution and the Bill of Rights already.
Now, tell me just what pigeon-hole you're going to place me in....
I apologize, I was not actually referring to you specifically. (unless you had an active hand in creating DHS...)
I was referring to those lawmakers and "public servants" I keep seeing in the news that view any American that does not share their view as "the enemy". These are the same people working in government being paid with our tax dollars that are against ANYTHING the current administration wants simply because they view this like a sporting event and they want their "team" to win and the other team to "lose".
The "truth" is, the same people that want anything the Obama Administration does to fail are the same people that created the Third Largest Government Agency.
How has that worked out? And where was their outrage over its creation and its current status of operation?
Try sending a letter or small package through the USPS, UPS and FedEx and let me know which one was more cost effective. Now try building a straw man and knocking him down.
My wife uses a MacBook Air and there are times it is TOO BIG!
She spends a lot time just reading things. and she sits on the couch and tries to balance the MacBook AIR on her lap and it is STILL TOO BIG!
She is getting an iPad. Sounds like a winner for her too.
So I guess she is a moron and a loser to the rest of the world? Oh well, at least she is not a coward.
did you know that if you have AppleCare on any of the computers you own that those Airport Expresses are covered under the main computer's Applecare plan? does not matter if the AE is out of warranty or not. (note: above link is a PDF)
I third this. The powered speakers is a nice simple idea.
plus you can also label each Airport express if you want, Bedroom, Livingroom, Basement, etc etc...
This is what I do in our house, my wife loves picking music from her laptop and then hearing it upstairs and downstairs.
It's pretty no-brainy and cheap. Especially if you just have one central computer controlling the music and you never want to have separate streams, then you just set it and forget it.
Many people never bother to check out the built-in "Calculator" app in OSX
click the VIEW menu for options like "paper tape" and you can use the scientific calculator part and record everything and then print it out or save it as a text file.
but I really like the previous suggestions for handwriting it out for now on paper...
I agree, once you have RECEIVED a patent on something you are not REQUIRED to actually implement it.
I have no clue what they actually intend to do with this patent if and when it is granted, but it is entirely possible that the main goal of the patent is to prevent anyone else from implementing ads on their OS and if they do, Apple gets to sue them. It could simply be leverage for future use, I don't know.
A rather famous example of a pre-emptive patent is "Device for Perfusing An Animal Head" which, according to the "inventor" was designed to give him legal ground to slow or stop the process of this type of research unless it was done to a certain standard.
I don't know how successful it was but patents primarily give you legal grounds to sue. That is really all they are.
The definition of real robot does require it be autonomous, but being tethered to a power supply is not a restriction for a robot. Not any definition I have ever seen.
That makes perfect sense, thank you. Only now do I think of all the research projects from Carnegie Mellon that I have seen autonomously hopping around on one leg and tethered to a central power core.
It is not automonous
It is tethered to a power supply (in this case:pneumatic, but it could be hydraulic, electric, mechanical, whatever...)
I don't get the "ChemBot" part either, there is no chemical change. I just see compression/relaxation cycles.
I used to work in Special Mechanical Effects for films and commercials and we made all sorts of crap like this that was remotely controlled with bladders and shit in it and we never called it a "robot".
It's a pretty weird idea to have guest account anyway unless it's a terminal computer for public access or unless you were using the computer for some other purpose than it's intent that you'd like to hide...
or unless you got grandkids coming over all the time and wanting to use your computers (ALL of them) for their "homework" at the same time and you don't want them mucking about with renaming your files by banging away on the keyboard at the wrong time. I created accounts on each computer for them and they now know how to log out of my account or my wife's account and log in to "their own" account so they can do their "homework" which apparently is hosted on addictinggames.com. Hey, what do I care, as long as they don't mess with my files.....
sucks to be the grandparents that just upgraded to Snow Leopard and did not know how to create new accounts for the kids.
Invest in more infrastructure is exactly what AT&T won't do if they move to tiered pricing.
As soon as extra money from the new fees rolls in their shareholders will start screaming that it belongs to them or the executives will just give themselves nice fat bonuses for implementing such a great new business model.
I don't know a good solution to this problem except for some serious competition to AT&T where their only possible response is to beef up their infrastructure to match or beat the competitor.
There is a home that my son-in-law built just north of Chicago that has "Solar Slate" installed in portions of the roof that match the asphalt shingles.
It was installed by a local roofing company around 2003, you can see a photos of the install HERE. Did not RTFA and while these are slightly different than what is mentioned these things have apparently held up very well so far for the people that live there.
Sort of an aerial view of one part of the house with the slates installed here.
If you can't see the photos you probably crashed the guy's server, I think it is hosted on his home computer...
A friend of mine has a Scene Shop that owns two Saw Stop machines.
You can turn OFF the Saw Stop feature if you want.
After going through about a half dozen blades and brakes they now shut off the Saw Stop feature for:
Cutting plastics
Cutting aluminum sheet.
They don't cut wet wood so it is not really a problem.

good point, thank you for the clarification.
I'm against Obama care.
I don't know what "Obama Care" is.
I didn't like the creation of the DHS as it's just another inefficient government bureaucracy.

Don't take the update if you Heel & Toe your Camry while driving.
also- if you use your Camry for Rock Climbing and need to Heel & Toe you will find yourself at a tremendous disadvantage to the others.
and I go like, wtf dude?
The WSJ is on your CEO's radar. His customers and clients. His financial backers. His home-town banker.
You need to know what they are thinking.
I am thinking parent has no CEO to deal with.
Like me.
now why do we need to read the WSJ again?
I would like to subscribe to your newsletter....
it is called Lubrication. Internet does not work without it.

...unlike your remote controlled "bladders'n'shit yo" for special effects...
I'm a grandfather. The only time I use the word "yo" is when I want my 3 grandkids to laugh hysterically at me.

now both of us will be modded as flamebait

54.2% chance you will have to send it in for repair anyways.
