if UV rays aren't blocked by water clouds very well, why would they be blocked by pollution clouds? not cleaning up the air can never be considered a good thing.
maybe you all are the same inside, but i've taken case modding to a whole new level. my intestines now glow with neon light, and my eyes have blacklights behind them
well, to put it nicely, he didn't seem to take some of the answers seriously. We do have a lot of misconceptions about the arab world and dialogs like these should be used to help learn about each other. answering questions with responses like "You're kidding, right???" or "[The] only word I have for you is 'Ya Moftary'" or "this question is meaningless, it is based on an assumption that there is a lack of awareness" doesn't do much to keep a dialog open between two unfamiliar cultures that should be friends.
So Alaa, if you're reading... Thanks for answering as detailed as you did, however no question is a stupid question. If we can't ask questions without fear of being made fun of, what reason do we have to keep asking questions?
but I know Rob Malda has stated that the majority of page views are from Windows boxes, and I know that when I've had links in top comments and stories from Slashdot, I've seen the traffic patterns - sure, there are a lot more Linux users than the average stream of web traffic, but it's more like 10-15%.
The majority of/. viewers are probably reading from work...
but as long as the coffee is consistent, then atleast you can prepare yourself for it. there's a few levels of bad coffee, in my opinion. from worst to not so awful:
a. gas station "been on the burner all day" coffee b. gas station "insert a loony, push a button on a machine" coffee (i'm not canadian, i just wanted to say loony) c. fast food resturaunt coffee.
and the least awful
d. franchise donut shop coffee. They atleast know a lot of people drink coffee with donuts so they not only have frequent fresh brews, but also not that bad of bean.
yeah, but is it patentable? copyrights should cover this, no? After all, it's just artwork rendered to a display. An example from a different industry... aren't the exterior designs of cars copyrighted? Why is this any different from a GUI?
probably. check www.freshmeat.net for projects. also, i think i've seen the little RSS feed icon someplace around slashdot. RSS viewers might suit your need. i'd hit up freshmeat first.
if you're not familiar with freshmeat, it's a free software gathering place for project news.

Although there are no hard numbers, the estimates are that Linus has been 10x more productive with BK.
No, it's that *everyone* was just 10x more productive after everyone stopped arguing about the whole matter.
just kidding. If BK really helps the kernel dev's, all power to them. I havn't looked at the BK website in a year or so, but one thing I think i didn't like was having to connect to the internet every couple of days if using the unregistered version. while I understand the concept, it's just a bit unsettling. it's nothing in comparison to "yearly subscriptions" for software, as seems to be the current trend for other softwares.
but that's neither here nor there. new evils do not make old evils any less evil, to be a bit extreme.
i currently have no need for BK. i'm done rambling now... mod me sideways!
and just where are you going to store that database? on another database acting as a filesystem? or will you have a db built into the OS, right next to your flight simulator, and supercolliding monkey accelerator?
The really shocking thing is the people who aren't already there!
John von Neumann - considering he started off the base design for the logic interaction systems we use today, he is often known as the father of computing - so why are we voting for him now?
von Neumann!? Bah! all he did was create a big f'ing bottleneck in hardware!! Ever hear of the von Neumann Bottleneck?! sheeesh.

but what is the cross over, if that is the correct term, of linux users and game players. "Desktop" is irrelevant in this discussion. How much of the population is in both categories? out of 100% of the gamers, are 50% linux users? 20%? If you are nice to the linux users and market, you might lock in a portion of the gamers to your hardware.

but there is a special resentment towards Microsoft
Yet, the killer apps and most used services are Hotmail and MSN messaging services. Then offline, Windows Media Player is the killer app.

you can take your RFID and shove it up your ass! literally!
then that unusable software could be patented as well. why not? it does something when you push this or slide that.
nothing on the UI for iTunes looks revolutionary.

f'ing slashdot.
If this were a Microsoft or Apple product...
neither would we have been told about it, nor would it be fixed for 23 more days?
