Call me a cynic, but I wonder... how successful or truthful was Alex's sale of $911k in advertising *before* national press attention (msnbc/. ap etc)?
Clearly anyone who bought advertising space is cashing in right now, but I wonder if this guy is saying hehas sold $911K so that he can REALLY sell the last 88,200$ in space and actually make money.
whatever the answer -- creative and cunning...
It looks like billiondollarhomepage.com was registered 2weeks after milliondollarhomepage.com.... DAMN:/ there goes my 1 BILLLLLLLLION dollars
Sure, but what you fail to realize is that the word is most often used in the following cases:
"I love Britney Spears"
"I love M. Jackson"
"I loved Gigli"
"I love [insert political candidate] because of [insert extremely dumbass reason]"
You realize the world isn't the poetic and romantic place you think it is.
1st Amendment was not even applicable to the 'government' (assuming you mean federal government) until incorporation in late/late 19th and then early 20th century. Therefore the 1A didn't technically relate to the Anti Sedition Act at the time.
*cough*
The part that surprised me was when I read the First Amendment instructions. I was surprised to learn that people could say whatever they want... providing it would not cause imminent action
It's this sort of uninformed, unintelligent (lack of) thinking that even allows these 'cases' to reach the courts in the first place.
Can we possibly force potentially a hundred million people to go repeat 5th grade american history?
"A major business value provided by Linux to governments is freedom from outside influence by a foreign corporation, namely Microsoft."
That sounds great, but how is Delixus not trying to place themself in a similar position to Microsoft? Delixus is still trying to make a profit even if the OS is free. They claim Linux provides the ability to change vendors... sure so does Microsoft. But everyone knows once any organization choses a software system (*cough* Delixus' e-Governance *cough*), they rarely change. This is not a Linux thing, it's a business thing.
"The Delixus e-Governance Platform uses a Web-based user interface to allow applicants to access the e-Governance application from any Internet cafe"
Again, this is great, but the article says near the top how pension offices were so far away from villages. Are internet cafes closer to villages than pension offices? Uhh...
Science and Technology Studies research on nanotechnology is SERIOUSLY lagging behind what we need. Many NSF grants are mandating s&ts studies along side the hard science, but there are still very few involved in this field.
On another note... Japan has outspent the US in nano r&d but has put next to 0 yen toward studies for the societal impact of nanotechnology.
So if anyone is going to really screw up society first, it might actually be the Japanese.
Perhaps the federal government is waiting to study how they messed up, to save money?:)
Does anyone else seem to think that these 'SolarLites' are useless as soon as a few dozen diesel spewing tractor trailers pass by?
Mars Rover teams are/were worried about dust on the panels, what about smoot on these? (Anyone who has seen black snow on a highway knows this would be a huge problem).
While NSF, etc have specificed that studies for the societal implications of nanotech. must be done alongside the hard science, VERY little of this social science research is actually going on.
It's very difficult to think of where a technology is going that we can't understand. And if you believe we understand it, you really don't.
Why the future doesn't need us. - Bill Joy gives an excellent and disturbing look at nano.
Don't get me wrong, Google news is great, but I've seen it capture related links and captions from images unrelated to the story!
Even the big boys need to improve their tech.

Try this at home: float an icecube in a glass of water. Watch it melt. See the water level stay the same.
Everytime I try this experiment I get thirsty and wind up drinking some of the nice cold water.
I'll just have to take your word for it.

How cool would it be to sink a Saturn V rocket as an artificial reef!

Perhaps we need better schools for those hundred million repeating 5th grade too.

ARIA, Australian for cover up. ...
In all seriousness, how far off is this is the US?
Since when did Real Soon Now translate to 10yrs+ ... ?
After someone steals your car, and subsequently redistributes the parts to chop shops around the state, do you feel OK with that?
I thought not.
