I'm probably totally wrong with the calculation, but for me, this comes out to about $220,000 for 1m^2 of a 0.5cm thick sheet, if you're thinking about insulating your house with it:)
How many of you are offended by non-animated, reasonably sized, banner ads on a page?
I bet a lot of people would even click on them if they advertised a product or service they might actually be interested in.
As opposed to some garish, strobing, sound-playing, moving window, which generally prompts me to dart for the close button before I even figure out what it is.
I know the central tenet of advertising is to get noticed, but I still think that pissing people off can have a negative impact on sales.
Only someone stupid enough to use Windows would buy their product!
- OR - People who use Linux are all broke communist hippies, if they had money to buy products they'd be running Windows!
- BUT - But seriously, is there anyone that is not aware of the existence of Pepsi? Why do we still need to see ads for it?
Remember, they're talking about the 73% of the population that sends email around, they're not talking about the hardcore geek population. I don't even think these people should be counted as "internet users" any more than you would call someone who pumps their own gas an auto mechanic.
Yeah, and if you decided to put it on mp3.com, that was your decision too. I have a few songs on mp3.com, and I don't really care what anyone does with them. Even if Britney Spears copied one note for note and made a billion dollars off of it and I didn't get a nickel, I'd just be amused that people listened to them, especially considering that they were all 4-track Amiga.mod files converted to mp3.
If you don't want anyone to rip you off, don't let anyone else hear your music.
I live in Rochester, and oddly enough, a lot of people refuse to use Kodak disposable cameras and use Fuji instead... because Kodak disposables are made in China, and Fuji's are made in the USA!
And, when doing this, Kodak said they needed to move production to China to stay competitive with Fuji.
There are plenty of places on the internet that will allow you to upload a digital photo file and mail out prints to you. You don't even have to get out of your chair, as long as all you want are pictures of your desk..
Kodak makes (well, made) very low-end film cameras. This is the market for film that I see as pretty much dead, the sort of camera you'd bring to a picnic. Nobody who uses film cameras for artistic composition uses their cameras anyway.
I am really hard-pressed to think of what we can do better than the Chinese or Indians.
We can bitch louder than they can. IT people need to realize they've been overpaid for some time due to worker shortage, and India/China have taken care of that. If IT workers expected the same pay as other people with similar education, there wouldn't be as much as an incentive to offshore.
Perhaps it's only in some states, unless you mean that the sales tax is included in the 99 cents. It came to a total of 99 cents on my CC bill for one song. Walmart came to 95.
Wal-Mart charges sales tax in their music store. At my local sales tax rate of 8.25%, that brings the price of a track to 95 cents, not 88. iTMS does not charge sales tax so the total charge is 99 cents.

Which doesn't help much, considering the front page only contains the same summary as listed above, and a heaping pile of ads.
Seriously, think about it though.

There is a supermarket chain called "Wegmans" in New York, and a supermarket chain called "Schwegmans" in Louisiana.
I haven't heard about them suing each other.
Everyone hates commercials until they need to use the bathroom.

Pro, possibly. Semi-pro, no. For a comparable quality to 35mm in digital, the price is way out of line. If cost is no object, sure.

In that case, you will never, ever, ever, ever, EVER, work ANYWHERE, again, EVER.
Microsoft must have done it!
They're better than Chinese or Indian cars.

That doesn't help much when the skills in demand are
for fry cooks and cashiers at Walmart.

A tuner card costs more than a TV.

Wait, that was Dylan Thomas. Nevermind.
Concerts?
They probably wouldn't lose any money if they had a licence that allowed distribution of the source but not compiled binaries, if that is possible.
They "lose money" on Joe User's K4HVD copy of Win98.
not the 0.00001% of masochists who are going to try to compile it themselves.
Some time ago, ICQ had a Java chat program on their website that would consistently bluescreen win2k upon opening, at least for me.
