I use Adium on OS X for AIM, and I have it automatically set to log everything. Currently both my G5 and Pismo log to boot drives, but I back the logs up on an external hard disk on a regular basis.
It basically acts like an automatic journal/diary, as I tend to talk about most significant, or even sometimes insignificant events with friends and family.
Except for application updates (iTunes, iSync, Quicktime, Final Cut etc.) almost all of the updates that appear in the software update dialogue are either called "System Update [version]" or "Security Update [date]"
Also, Software Update can be found in the first tier of the Apple menu, as well in System Preferences. It is by default set to notify you of updates daily, and gives an option to download updates in the background but to not install them.
All in all I think it's a bit more straightforward than Windows Update.
Optimum tends not to care about downspeed, its the upload that they tend to cap.
Then again, to get them to cap it you need to be doing about a constant 100KBps upstream for a matter of days before they cap you.
My PowerBook has been up for 76 days now and with constant normal (aka no intense uploading/downloading) use every day I have FAR less than 500GB transferred up and down combined.
Most caps that ISP's implement are really just to deter software/digital content pirating. From what I hear about connections in Europe this does sound like a great deal.
Considering that previous post about the probability of a devastating comet/asteroid catastrophe in the next century, wouldn't the impact of this small(rel) asteroid statistically lower our chances of being hit by an apocalyptic-sized one?
Yeah, it's a very old tech, since System 7 at least, and I still have a bunch of those ol' plaintalk microphoens... even this cool grey one that you could clip onto your collar.
Speakable Items was _very_ helpful for my dad after he underwent some shoulder surgery. It's something Apple definitely needs to market more, along with a plethora of other things.
When I first read about this thing on MSNBC back in august, there was one line that really stood out to me:
"So Savage decided to 'Apple-ize the PC industry.'"
I'm sorry, but hasn't Apple already done this?
And where did they find teens for tesimonials!?!
"'hip-e is the fastest, most customizable computer on the market. It's perfect for me because I can make it fit my style.'

When they originally put the trial up a few days ago, it was downloadable without registration, but now its necessary... intriguing...

I'd like to think that my mac was impervious to attack, but I know it's not.
Comparing susceptibilities of macs to a PC's viruses is like comparing a dog's susceptibilities to a human's cold: they are simply incompatible.
I'd really like to see someone try to write a mac virus. It would probably end up exploiting a hole in the BSD subsystem.
If you notice, Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2) was used in this test. This is an operating system that was phased out in late 2003.
There's something to be said about that VS a windows PC with SP1 installed.

From the data it looks like the increase in spam over the past 2 years is basically linear.
It could be said however, that CAN-SPAM did nothing to decrease the increasing ratio of spam to normal email.

Yeah, just like Google's interest and research into web-based applications.

To turn on/off Speakable Items
To add/remove Speakable Items
Hope this helps, its fun to play with, but not very useful if you listen to music or have your computer in a noisy environment.
Same here, Safari 1.2.4, 10.3.6, could not get the hijack to work with popup-blocking enabled (command-k).
Yeah like America Online, they're still in the process of getting rid of all those CD's they pressed...
In general, people need to realize that prime-time programming is not real life.
_especially_ the reality shows.
Have they even been able to display a high level of accuracy from MTHEL?
Oh, that's just because you have your threshold set too high.
Hah, at first glance all I picked up was "Fosters Linux" and I thought "huh, what will the Aussies do next?"
Either that or someone just won a bet for getting /. to post a link to a site with pictures of naked girls on it.
Well I thought it was funny.
Oh well...
And one can clearly conclude from the diagram that anyone who would buy/use a Hip-e has no more than 2 friends.

You can't spell Conspiracy without piracy.
I'm beginning to think gaming companies are doing this (letting their games get leaked) purposely.
It's a perfect excuse if they are unsatisfied/unfinished with the game that they're supposed to release and they want more time to fix 'em.
er... i mean wtf... damn french pirates...
Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the communist part...er... terrorist?
