If you search Brittanica for Google there's no result for the Google search engine, only a result for search engines in general on the second page. I had the impression that search was number 1 for Google.
Wouldn't it be better to tell the Internet Archive about the offending images? If it really is child porn then I'm sure they'll be only too happy to remove it.
My son is 3 and loves Magic Desktop, but he only learned to use the mouse and keyboard properly aged about 3 1/2. I don't think he'll appreciate his own computer - just let him use yours - the worst he can do is damage some of the peripherals, but he can just as easily do that if he's got his own as well.
I remember a company here in Dundee ran a website that had virtual horse racing. You could buy a virtual horse, train it, buy virtual food, race against other horses and get monery back for winning. They even had a full time employee whose role was purely to commentate on the races.
Dvorak's theory seems to be based on the idea that Google removed Groups from the front page and will lose Wikidedia as well. If I go to Google.com I can see Groups right at the top. So what's his point?
I clicked on the picture of a smiling Mr Gates and he told me to "type in your question", so I was expecting an ask.com type search, but the results looked like any other search engine, and it did a very bad job of answering my question.
Also, the result page was in Dutch, because it noticed that I'm in Holland, but there was no obvious link to switch to English like Google has. Presumably Google knows I prefer English because of my browser settings.
Also, there appears to be an RSS feed, but it's not useful enough for Firefox to recognise it.
Setting up a website is easy. Maybe it's easy to convince a merchant processing provider to open an account, but surely you need very good ID to open a bank account? They have laws on money laundering and other stuff like that.
(Earlier today, I saw a perfect picture of modern-day Shanghai: in a sea of bicycles, a man riding, and a woman seated in the Chinese way in equilibrium on the back of the bike with both her legs on one side... And as the man pedals his old rusted bike, the girl behind her is merrily thumb-keying SMS messages to her friends.)
I see the same thing every day, but I live on the other side of the world in a small, flat country. And the position of the man and woman is often reversed.
The car is design for people who never go under the bonnet anyway. Some people take their car to the garage every six months and never do anything else to it. I poke around in there sometimes and check the oil and water, but nothing ever needs doing, so why bother? If something breaks I couldn't fix it anyway because it's all computer controlled and everything is so cramped I can't even get a spanner near anything.
Probably the first one shouldn't be there at all, and the second one is unneccesary in English.
BTW curriculum vitae is plural: the singular is curriculum vita, but common usage beats correct grammar all the time.
If they don't defend it then it has no power.

Do people make money from owning horses?Am I stating the obvious if I say that "or" is pronounced differently to "word"?

The result is Debian, although the extract doesn't even contain the word "best".

Can I just remind you of an earlier slashdot story from my home town: Dutch Portal Cleared of Copyright Infringement.

It's a release candidate, not a release.

If "children will be exposed to .. spam .. well before being exposed to .. SPAM", why is the campaign "aimed at the over-45s"?

Did anyone else notice that this is two months' old news?
It returns book results - open that tab and you'll see them

hotmail also has one, but it's indirect and doesn't seem to go anywhere
