That sounds like an apt description of events.

(the advanced persistent threat may be quite a justified description if running Windows - especially if it's XP)

According to additional reports throughout the day, malware was transmitted through patch management servers, affecting hundreds of PCs at the broadcasters and banks. The malware was designed to target the master boot records of the computers, taking them offline, and according to another article, local security experts say that this is an example of an advanced persistent threat.

Actually, there are home versions of GuitarFreaks and DrumMania. The first two mixes were released for the original PlayStation back in '99. The 3rd and 4th mixes were released together with DrumMania 2nd and 3rd respectively on the PS2, preceded by the first DrumMania. After a hiatus, Konami re-launched the home editions with V. As for songs, along the lines of Konami's other rhythm games and unlike Rock Band/Guitar Hero, a majority of the songs are done by in-house artists sprinkled with some covers.

  14. Re:Region Locking on Nintendo DSi Software Will Be Region Locked · · Score: 1

Apologies if this sounds like an apologist spouting (I am very much against region-locking myself). One reason for region-locking is localization. For example, there's a guitar simulator for the DS called M-06 released in Japan. When Ubisoft released that game in the States, they renamed it to Jam Sessions. The average gamer Stateside would be more inclined to pick a game if it were titled "Jam Sessions" as opposed to "M-06" Another more famous example is the rhythm game called "Ouendan". The original concept of the game involved high school cheering squads that "cheered" on; this concept is familiar and common in Japan but not so in the West (slightly different from the idea of cheerleaders). This was localized to "Elite Beat Agents". Most average gamers will shy away from games that are in different languages because they won't understand what's being said. Low sales equate to low income. Hence, the lockout.

Korea is too tied to MS for anything like this to happen any time soon. Ironically, with the exception of the Xbox, and MS Office, just about everything else Microsoft has a strong grip here. Major websites are designed for IE, Palm is hardly popular, Apple is only used by some 20K people, etc etc etc. There will be repercussions if MS has to back out of the OS market.
