  1. Effects will be seen soon on How has the USA PATRIOT Act Affected You? · · Score: 1

Assuming positions on the supreme court clear as expected Bush will be appointing some conservatives to the justice panel. I think now that such an environment exists we're more likely to see the patriot act used, because people know that the second it is the ACLU will jump all over it. With a conservative majority in the supreme court the patriot act will likely not be ruled unconstitutional, and can thus now be used. Other extremely bad things that will likely happen: row vs. wade will be overturned and gay marriage will be banned!

I've setup a classroom before with LTSP, and although it was impressive it had many shortcomings. For a non-linux veteran it could also introduce security vulnerabilities. I suggest you instead take a look at Windows terminal server, the CALs are sometimes even included in a site license.

The employees at companies using this policy likey have access to confidential information. Copying that to the usb storage device and walking out the door is very possible, and the only way to secure the network against this is to actually ban the devices from entry. It's absurd to just declare that a company enforcing this policy does not "run a secure network", because banning people from read access to information necessary for their job is not going to work.

Exactly what in this film isn't factual? After all the ruckus caused by Bowling for Columbine Moore learned his lesson and had a team of people verifying all of the information that appears in F9/11. He tried to mislead people in one scene, the one where they're talking about the Bin Laden family being flown out of the country too early (it was Clarke who issued the order, not Bush). That isn't exactly a lie though, and it certainly doesn't discredit the other hour and 50 minutes of the movie.

Very much so agreed. I myself am a gentoo user and love the organization of portage, and how easy it is to keep software up to date with the latest patches. But for some reason php is a complete pain in the ass to get working sometimes. It took me at least an hour longer than it should have to migrate from php4 -> php5. That said, php5 was in the unstable branch at the time and I have yet to experience any other problems.

It's completely unjust that gaming companies be restricted by the very system they established to help parents do their job of raising the kids. However certain titles (Vice City comes to mind) are so filled with sex and violence that I shudder to think of anybody under a mature age playing it. This is why I would agree with legislation restricting children under 16 (chosen arbitrarily) from buying games listed as grossly violent/sexual. There are plenty of implications here though. Who would govern this list? Will the legislation stop here or is this merely a stepping stone for the anti-videogame community? Would creating an adult video game section make kids not want the children's titles?

Also your company surely isn't running on AOL anyway, it's likely connected via an isp that assumes you know what you're doing and will not tamper with anything. AOL's users want their hands held and technical issues resolved without any confusion.
