What benefit is a 3cm range wireless connection? At that range you're practically pushing the devices against each other to get the antennas within 3cm.
"Oh look, the contents of my pocket have shifted around and the pairing is broken."
Each layer stops something else. This layer does not break, so it stops penetration. Make a cell structure of this, fill it with something else, like say SAND, and that pressure wave you were so worried about becomes contained. Two layers of a cell structure like this, with sand in between them, and the entire explosive kinetic energy is contained, converted to heat, deflect out, or otherwise dealt with.
And them some criminally minded individual could knock you out, cut open your (back/biceps/chest/leg/wherever the heck the darned chip is) and suddenly 'be' you.
No thanks. I'd much rather the opportunity to give up my valuables _without_ getting cut up.
Except for the following wrinkle, a person is standing there. You are using an IMO deadly weapon (what, cars are 2500+lb chunks of metal) to push somebody around. Hmm, is this not technically ASSAULT (with a deadly weapon)?
Now, you _may_ have something in the way of a self-defense argument since they were (apparently) unlawfully detaining you. But that would be a very slippery slope. "That bad man tried to RUN ME OVER WITH HIS CAR when all I was doing was STANDING in the parking lot."
Of course, IANAL, nor am I resident in the US.
From the story, he was being unlawfully detained by the store employees. AFAIK (also, IANAL, nor am I a resident of the US) this would be more than enough cause to call 911.
You say we "don't have any" rights when at K-Mart? This is false on its face, and anyone can see it. If you walk into K-Mart they have no right to bind and gag you, nor to handcuff you and throw darts at you for entertainment, nor to forcefully take a blood sample.
I'll go one better, how about a device with voice dialing, bluetooth, 3g connectivity, and the capability to act as a network gateway device (via bluetooth)?
Oh yeah, no need to tell us the location of the Canadian store because, you know, all we have to do is ask Steve. He lives in Canada, and it's such a small place that everybody knows about everything. Actually, you should really ask Tom, Steve is on vacation.
Q: You'll never see a fully functional space elevator on earth. The requirements are too close to the edge of what is even theoretically possible. If it weren't for the costs, we could build one this year.
To put it bluntly - this is an outright lie. Period. if it were true - why is LiftPort spending money on R&D rather than production?
Probably because the costs exceed their budget by several orders of magnitude and they are doing RND to reduce these costs and/or improve the end result.
That would be because your wireless network has a maximum theoretical throughput of 54Mbps while the maximum data rate of an HDMI signal is 10.8Gbps, over 200 times the maximum bandwidth available to 802.11a/g.
802.11n is somewhat faster, but still fails to achieve the bandwidth required for this application. Now, if you were thinking using a compressed video stream, that is possible, but adds more points of failure. So, in short, live with the cable.
"Why does he have two clocks?" "The one of the left is a spedometer for his extreme life. The other one is set to Tokyo time, so he knows when to drift race."
I work in the IT department at a college, we have seen many Acer laptops using the RTL8185 wireless chipset experience issues connecting to the college wireless networks. (WEP encryption, SSID non-broadcast).
I'm sorry, but you're wildly off base with your resolution figures.
What you're quoting as horizontal resolution is, in fact, the vertical resolution, and even then, only approximations.

And, as an added bonus, it's quite simple to annotate the screenshot if you're using Word.

So, something like a sandbag in other words?
Canadians pay a levy on blank media to the CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association), in exchange, music downloads seem to be legal.
Sunburn... from space!
So if a cashier in McDonald's asks you "Why are you dressed like a gay cowboy?" you would answer it?
What about, "What is that thing on your crotch?"
Not every question from a complete and total stranger deserves an answer.
But what about you? You seem interested in this story...
Oh snap, I just lost the dongle.
Oh snap, I stepped on the dongle.
Oh snap, I left the dongle at home.
Oh snap, my new UMPC doesn't have a serial port.
Oh snap, the dongle is mysteriously incompatible with some specialized hardware that I HAVE to use.
Oh snap, now I have to keep track of 4598 dongles.

Well crap, so much for that business plan...

Neither, you shall have a strange birthmark shaped like a goatee, and coloured gold.

Just watch out for their Wireless chipset.

OTOH, they are nice laptops.
