Better yet, they've invented tires for the space shuttle that are capable of going 100k times faster than regular tires. I want some of those tires for my Pinto! They'll make it that much faster!
Comparing it to DSL (and POTS) was really stupid, IMO, but they needed something that would connect with the average reader (I guess.) They don't say anything about what kind of physical/data/ layers the thing runs on. Comparing it to DSL and modems leads the novice reader to think it works on POTS lines, which I'm sure is not the case.
As flipant as this the parent is, martial arts might be a real decent way to build some confidence in pysical activity, and get him/her interacting with people.
Sports are generally a good way to do it, and martial arts are far more geeky than the usual football/baseball/soccer stuff, plus it can be competitive or not, depending on preference.
Seems like all the geeks these days are little japanese culture fanboys who are into anime, and this is a natural transition.
Which is supremely ironic. One big selling point of this thing is RSI injury avoidance from wrist movement. Yet the fact is, you have to grasp the thing for long periods of time in an uncomfortable way (for you, and likely lots of people)
Which is nearly impossible. Supporting your entire arm in the air with just your fingertips on the mouse is not realistic, and nearly impossible for any extended period of time. It's perfectly acceptable to rest part of your arm/wrist/hand on the desk, the angle at which it rests, and making sure you are not bending your wrist excessively from side to side is more important.
If we brought back 10 tons of mars rocks, the chances of getting a fossil are still slim to none. Talk about needle in a haystack. Not to mention the fact that you have to land near some of it to begin with.
Have you played these games? They get better every time. Vice city added lots of awesome new stuff (motorcycles!) and kept it very interesting. I have no doubt that this will be an excellent sequel, Rockstar has given us almost no reason to doubt them.
GTA3 and VC are two of the few games that I can pick up after playing for 100+ hours and still enjoy, I say bring on the sequels!
Yes, the memory, hard drive, and video card is the same. That doesn't mean the architecture of the machine has anything in common. You can quote all kinds of things that are similar (both use PCI... big deal.) but that doesn't mean they have much in common.
Matching up a bunch of acronyms does not mean they're similar.
This is nothing new. The technology is to the point now where it's nearly flawless unless you have the orginals and can say "OK, here's the source." But the same kind of photo doctoring has been going on for as long as photos have been taken. It really doesn't take a very high quality photo to publish it in the paper, and have it look believable.
The fact that people believe it without question is what's makes it continue to this day... and that's never going to change. I doubt that it will happen more in the future.. it happens a lot now!
"never" isn't quite right. I know that 10.0 would do that, and maybe even 10.1. (been a while since I used that) Newer versions have the pretty little "you're hosed" screen, but the old ones did have white text dumped over the GUI.
If you can't find quality music to buy, you aren't looking hard enough, or the genres you like suck to begin with.
Seriously, I'm tired of seeing "there is no good music" comments, there is a TON of music in any genre being released all the time, and even when there isn't, there's usually a massive back catalog of things that most people don't own, and could look at.
It only works for half... but it works great on that half!!! How is that a good filter at all?
Of course one huge downside to this "friend of friends" approach is all the virus spam I get that's sent using someone's address book (thanks Outlook!) Guess what... all those addresses are probably whitelisted because it came from someone I "know."
Yeah, they're green, but still transparent enough. might be a little harder.
The fact that it's a reflection does make it a little more interesting, and difficult, as you have to hold it very steady so as not to disturb the soda surface.
Which beer Is better? I like beer, and I know quite a bit about Belgian and German beers, but not very many Indian ones. I do eat a lot of indian food, and see a few "domestic" Indian beers around the restaurants, but I don't know which is any good, or if there are some I should look for at local stores that might not be so common.
Which one would any of you folks back in Indian recommend?
Maybe we can get a flame^H^H^H^H^H beer war going here.
Apple has never strong-armed its vendors into bundling quicktime and forced them to drop competing products... Because Apple doesn't have any vendors selling OS X systems.
Apple is very friendly towards Real, and Real Player. A little less so since RealPlayer started playing quicktime on the PC (that pisses Apple off... a LOT), but they're still civil about it, and Apple knows that people want RealPlayer for OS X.
There was never any attempt to block the product from working with the OS (quite the contrary, we got lots of help making it work w/ the OS, and even got some time @ Macworld to show it off. I worked @ Real on the product) I don't think Apple has any kind of obligation to include the player, given their position in the market, vs. MS's

Neat stuff, stupid stupid article.
I think the original poster might have had 'better' confused with 'faster'.

Or Hitachi is selling them at an extreme profit in the retail channel, and a slight profit to Apple.
I agree, but I have to say that the bluetooth mice I use now are VERY impressive as far as responsiveness and reliability.

Care to explain why it was a huge dissappointment? I really enjoyed it, and almost every I know did too.

I really don't see how you can claim that they use the same "system bus and architecture."
No, I'm absolutely sure he doesn't know.
Yes, Gates himself owns it.

Bad movie reference over... move along.

GS43I PKL49 ONE FREE SONG
And they do have caps on the "Sierra Mist" (sprite/7up-esque) drinks too.
Still, some people will pay $1.10-$1.49 to get a free 99 song... that's just amazing.
