I have to say i fall into this "Power user" and the thing that Truly gets me is how much CRAP you have to do just to get day to day stuff working, Flash, Mp3, java, dvd playback / Recording, etc.. every distro has its own Package manager.
Couple that with the fact every time ive ran linux Fedora, ubuntu debian, ive ALWAYS ended up changing hardware to suit the os since the os doesnt suit the hardware.
And yes i was one of these who started out on Dos 3.

Faster than an intel chipset sure, also Buggier more "install the latest driver" When your cpu requires a f**king windows patch to run a media encoder correctly, your doing something wrong......
The whole Athlon XP experience is what broke me from amd completely.
Yes Yes i have, if its a sealed system and its designed right it will have a pressure valve near the base of the pc, if the pumps stops and system over heats usually you have water venting out of the bottom of the case, if not the bios on ANY motherboard worth watercooling should have a thermal cutoff on the cpu you chose. if you use an 80$ 5.25 Drive bay res and your shit gets ruined you had it coming.
3 years WHAT kind of CRAP are they putting in these, i have a 4 year old toshiba and it still holds as around 2 and a half of the original 3 hour charge, another MUCH older pentium generation hitachi mx150 has a lithium pack that still goes - both packs contain sanyo cells.
Are the really just using the most flea market ass parts they can find, or has QC across the board just slipped that much.
As someone formerly stationed there, if you can submerge in the thames river without ripping the bottom of your sub out Rock on, as for the women take all the grottoppopotamus you can carry, those women around that base were just plain scary.

This is EXACTLY why i stopped using AMD during the Athlon XP days. back then there was always some half assed driver excuse by the cheepgeek crowd, it was always have you instaleld the latest 4in1 or whatever, i can See the situation has NOT improved. Ive never once have been "REQUIRED" to update an intel rig with the latest bugwrap just to get something to work.
If AMD ever decides to take control of the motherboard they might have a pretty good setup.
