Yea, I have the motorola device. I'll give that a try tonight and see if that fixes it. The support seemed to act like they had no idea what I was talking about.
I just called them last night (my callerID hasn't worked in a week, even after multiple reboots) and got though after about 30 seconds of hold.
Didn't get a solution, but did get to talk to someone.

Why does it have to be one or the other. How about using a shared lib that can be trumped by putting a copy of the lib in the application folder. That way if you have to update a lib for a new program, and that breaks an old program, you can just put a copy of the old lib in the program's folder.
You: "I dont like it" Dev: "So what should we do to make it better?" You: "Can't tell ya that, just fix it"
My god man, you should like the people I support.
Customer: "My email doesn't work" Me: "Whats happening exactly?" Customer: "Well, I dont know" Me: "Do you get an error message?" Customer: "Yes" Me: "What does it say?" Customer: "Stuff" Me: "Can you read it to me please?" Customer: "Oh I closed it, can't you just fix it" Me: "Ok lets check your mail settings" Customer: "Can;t you just fix it?"
I'm sorry, no one is going to fix a problem they themselves dont see. If you are going to point out a problem, then explain how it is a problem.
Yea, if we dont like the way the world is we should all just give up and bitch.
Just think, if everyone felt as you do we would all be sitting around in caves running from killer tigers and bears. Maybe you dont need to make an OS froms scratch. Maybe you need to write up a paper on how a "good" OS should be designed. Then you could potentally get some followers who would help you build that OS.
bitching without giving a solution is like a guy with no arms trying to jerk off.
Granted, I havn't done any large scale work. But all of my websites look great in Mozilla, IE6, Safari, and Konq. I just use javascript to detect the browser and apply the correct style sheet. Really, as long as you dont use IE only features, your only issue is layout, which can be fixed by writting a seperate style sheet for browsers that handle positioning slightly different.
Suse provides a free personal iso. This is enough to get a good stable system. You can then point YAST to suse's ftp site and download any additional packages you want and get the exact same offering you can buy in stores. You can also do a pure ftp install.

What problems are you having? It could be distro related. I have no problems using grub to boot windows or linux. Most distros even take care of setting that up for you. I Have 200gig drive with a 30 gig windows partition (for those games that wont run in winex yet). You just have to make sure the windows partition is the first partition on the drive.
My drives are usuually setup as Windows, swap, root, home. I started using fat32 for the windows partition because i found ntfs to be a bit of a pain to use from linux. (mainly write support). Other then that, I've noticed no problems.
I've only got 1 driver problem. My onboard sound (Intel D865Perl) wont run 5.1 on linux. Other then that I've actually had a much easier time with drivers. This machine is running SuSe 9.1 Pro.
Boy, do I have a webcam for you.
yea! Software just makes the process really really fast!
Me. I hated halo on the xbox. I hate fps games in general on the xbox. The pc version of halo also sucked, and was buggy. I'll be skiping this one.
Wow, your the first person I've ever found that likes progress. Wow.

Well, you are dependant on a dynamically linked library for repoduction.
