Yea, but doesn't your lifetime subscription only apply to the box you have right now? If you were to upgrade to a Series3 for example, it would go away?
I just have a weird feeling that this will open more doors to electronic theft. As if it was hard enough convincing people to pay for things online with a credit card.. now this..
Being involved in the Linux community since the early 90's, I've watched many desktop enviroments evolve, Xandros still looks like it has a ways to go, as far as "pretty"
unlike Ximian they still havent matured, however they are still alive and beating, which is always good for the Linux community.
I'll sit back and munch on my Doritos while Sony gets together their pack of hounds to hunt down people hacking their PS2's.. It's the way it always goes..
Hopefully your stereo has an "audio in" port?:/ if not i guess you'd be screwed.. Might consider upgrading the stereo equipment if possible to allow for that, many new ones come with an audio in, for stuff like xm satellite radio and such
I'm a mac user and have purchased many tracks from the iTunes Music Store just for the simplicity and speed.. There really (as far as I know) isn't a KaZaa client for OSX..LimeWire on OSX (atleast on my little G4 iMAC) is total bloatware.
iTunes Music Store has taken off really well in the Apple community, therefore people are screaming and fighting trying to release some type of worthy competition.. problem is in the PC world, most people can fire up KaZaa or Morpheus(Gnutella) and download files just as easily..
BuyMusic.com in my opition is a sorry "HURRY UP AND BUY" type of system compared to the iTMS.
Apple apparently will be releasing a version of iTunes with support for the Music Store in the near future.
I'm sick and tired of large scale corporations sending good jobs overseas so they can save money and be competitive.. The US economy is suffering to the point that a lot of very tallented people are being laid off by the numbers. I have recently been laid off, and myself as well as many other slashdotters know how difficult it is to find a good paying tech related job in this plot of time we call "now".
I believe some states were considering passing laws to forbid corporations/companies to do such things like this, but I'm not sure if it was ever put in place or will even be enforced.
This is what companies need to stay in business? how about hiring locals who will give your company more pride and better services/products? It's not the responcibility of the United States to support the job markets of other countries while ruining our own enconmy in the process.
All the blame isn't on George W., but all I know is I had a job before he was in office.
I'm really trying to lean towards cost effective methods.. I don't have a huge budget for this project so my original ideas have been to use Linux
Back a long time ago I played around with the 'rsynth' application which read text which was piped to it.. Perhaps I could write some types of apps to pipe his e-mail and so forth to it.. but I'd rather figure out a more functional and easier way of doing it.
Graphical interfaces might be a bit too non-userfriendly to sight impaired
The real reason I don't wish to do voice recognition is due to the fact of him not being able to train it to his voice.. the current systems are way too "beta" so to say..

Poor radioshack.. If their products were better quality and better priced, and the salesmen not so pushy.. I'd probably shop there.
the "serivce packs" are named like 10.4.1 and so on. Generally when it gets to .9 you can expect 10.5 to be out, if not sooner :)
MacSlash had this item on March 01st. See it: here.
Who else is waiting for the patent on wiping your ass?

$699 says that SCO is dead before I get my G5

How about a metallicats for sony?
"$200,000 in illicit auctions, using 15 different screen names and ripping off 1,700 victims."
.. right..
eBay auctions in 5digit payments? Everyone always said to me prior to my first ebay experience "It's as safe as a garage sell.."
That just goes to show you can't ever trust someone over a computer screen.
Macslash (see article) had this on the 14th.. come'on slashdot.. get up to speed :P

why not just email the distributors? is this really worthy of an 'Ask Slashdot'?
Have these not already been launched? I remember seeing one while legally downloading music from iTMS

Let's see how far RIAA gets when the schools they piss off's law students get to fight back as an assignment..

as a developer I recieved a free copy of the developer preview of OSX 10.3, and the fast user switching is by far superior in speed and eye candy.
Somehow I'm not shocked by this..
"Where can we make you go tomorrow?" to hell!
Doesn't the telephone based email only read it to you?
It would be easier, and probably cheaper to pipe the email to a some type of reader..
If you know of a telephone based system that can translate voice to email, let me know please.

I think I'll get him a keyboard with large buttons, then go from there
Thank you for your input and advice.

Thank you guys for your input, I think I will go the route of a large key'd-keyboard.
