I don't think you understand the basic principle here:
If you have a page that -must- have 10MBs of legit content, there's nothing you can do about that. However, one shouldn't make that page to have 12MBs by adding an extra 2 MBs of fancy flash and eyecandy.
Most of the websites that use flash does -nothing- for the usability of the site except to say "hey look, i don't really know what i'm presenting and so i'm adding some graphics, hopefully you can be mesmerized w/ the eyecandy and not focus on what i really want you to see!"
Good examples of this are the automobile websites. A page that has the 360 virtual interior of a car should take a megabyte or 2. but the front page does not need to have 2 megabyte of the car driving down the windy country roads.
i don't use google desktop search. copernic desktop search software is much better (at least for me).
once you move your emails in outlook from 1 folder to another, google will no longer be able to open up the email correctly.
it's also not intuitive as to how one can reindex email/files etc after installation. as much as i like a lot of their services, desktop search isn't one of them.
and you really don't want to work for companies that will not live by this hiring rule because they've fucked up so badly that they need people -right now- instead of 2 weeks to a month later.
An example of GDS/copernic that beat grep -r hands down:
A coworker of mine sent me an email about a URL about 1 year ago (now in my archived folders) that I need to use today to check for XML validities based on a specific DTD for my work.
Please tell me how you are going to search my Outlook archived folders (which is about 8GBs, when you add all of 'em together) using grep -r.
Using copernic, I can search either by author, or a date, or any part of the word that i could think of. After typing each letter, it narrows the search results down. I found what I was looking for in about 2 seconds.
Good luck on getting grep -r to find that in about.. how about forever?
i guess in my mind, there are these "fedex" quests, then there are some more of the epic quests.
delivering food may just be what you have to do while you are "young". you do know that there are other quests in wow than food deliveries.
the defias/vancleef series of quest, for example. after finishing that series, i definitely felt a little bit of sense of accomplishment -> as much of an accomplishment as one can get in an online game.
I got a great solution (mostly for myself).. I am not buying that game.:)
Bought HL the day it came out. I don't care how great a game is, if the company is this anal, then so be it. You won't get $ from me.
especially since the specifications on these devices are rarely specific enough for you to make a decision to buy one or the other.
why do you think places like anandtech.com, howardchui.com are so popular? they need people to take a hard look at computer hardware, cell phones before spending the $. pictures on various angles of cell phones, video cards, how they perform etc are way more important than the vague spec that the manufacturers put in.
this is the biggest reason why i still go into bestbuy, to feel the product and compare & contrast the different models. the other reason is for those last minute purchases where the online stores can't get me the item that day.
dunno about the others, but i use voip mainly for outbound calls - outbound calls to western europe and canada that i am saving a lot of money.
most of my friends are the same way:
1) for the friends in US, they call me on my cell, it doesn't save them any more penny to call me on the voip line than it is to call me on my cell -> may actually be cheaper if calling cell if they are using the same carrier since that use mobile to mobile minutes.
2) for the people outside of US, calling a cell vs. some random # makes no differences at all (at least not to my knowledge). they are more likely to reach me if they call me on cell.
most of these calls occur at night, where i have nights & weekends anyway.
It supposed to be plain text for you. However I resent your arrogance in defining what email is for me or anyone else.
Note that I don't care for HTML email myself, but I'd like to say that no where in the spec for email does it disallow HTML, or rich text format.
The problems with Treo600 are being addressed -> Treo650 has BT, removable battery, better camera.
However, overall, in terms of the US market, SE P800/900 phones have not been nearly successful as the Treo600. How would I know? Just look at the phones offered by all of the major wireless carriers. You will see a Treo600 at/near the top of the Smartphone category from all of the major carriers (except Nextel). I'd say this is the testament of Treo600's popularity.
I own a Treo600 myself and can't live without it. It has probably the most advanced phone functionalities that I know of: 1) exportable extende call log (want to see who you called on 6/1/2004? you can, mine goes all the way back to 5/20/2004, and each with length of call, etc); 2) Multiple #s per name, phonebook size limited only to memory 3)SMS (with conversation grouping ability so you have better idea of who you are talking with) 4) it fits in my jeans pocket 5) I get around 90-110kilobit/sec transfer rate, probably the fastest you can get next to the newest GSM EDGE phones. 6) HTML compliant web browser that displays graphics, javascript 7) Palm software base.. no discussion there 8) mp3 player with SD for storage 9) a working camera, shitty.. but it works fairly well under well lit conditions
I am sure there are other things that I am missing here, but I've not seen another phone that can match the Treo600 for its balance of the PDA and cellphone as well as its featureset. So in conclusion, I wouldn't call it too little too late, I'd say they finally got it right!
I predict within the same 20 year time span, there will be massive civil unrest, possibly a civil war in US. The country just isn't that stable, based on the US visitors I know and things I have read HERE and there.
Scary stuff. hopefully I am wrong.
US has yet to develop the necessary social tolerance to keep the economy it has. Whether they will continue to be the stable dominating power is an open question.
now you see how stupid it is to predict 20 yrs? i can make anything sound logical and acceptable.
Or try crazybrowser, I find Crazy Browser to be a lot faster than slimbrowser. I've enjoyed enough that almost all of my clients and their associates now have crazybrowser as the default browser (mainly for tabbed browsing)
If you'd actually paid attention to the site.. They charge you extra for online encoding. A lot of the newer stuff require online encoding which means you get what you want (32kbit-320kbit). Comes out to be around $2-3/album. Not that bad at all. The only thing is you don't get album cover art as part of the album download.
If you have verizon, SBC is not allowed to give you DSL (and vice versa).
Verizon is horrible. I have verizon right now (or at least until comcast comes out and do the install next week, along with my modem)
with verizon i've been paying about $30 for phone and $24 for dsl. With comcast i'll be paying $56 for cable internet.
Difference? In my area (north bay area, california), you get 128kbit up and ~700kbit down with verizon. with comcast you should be getting at least 1.5mbit down and 256kbit up, if not 3mbit down..
except you can't save the formatting, such as 2-up, or page margin, or portrait vs. landscape in the "convert to PDF" thing.
you need adobe pdf printer to do this.
imagine setting these features for each one of your 500 "prints" that you gotta do.

a settlement is an indication that one side has determined that it's more beneficial for them to settle -now-.
this in no way indicate the strength of GPL, nor does it describe the fact that GPL is proven under the law.

now imagine when SoE implements some modern day technologies such as seamless world (no zones). like AC1 did 4-5 years ago.

latency for the aircards are measured in seconds, not ms that should tell ya something. :)
Answer me this:
1) Which version of RedHat is Skipjack, Enigma and Valhalla?
2) Which version of Redhat is RedHat 7.1, RedHat 7.2 and RedHat 7.3?
can you tell me which question is easier to answer?
Thank you.
