that's because you dumped the frames, Mini-DV is compressed, here, i stole this from wikipedia.
DV uses DCT intraframe compression at a fixed bitrate of 25 megabits per second, which amounts to roughly 3.6 megabytes per second or 4 minutes per Gigabyte. At equal bitrates, DV is somewhat better than MJPEG (which is very similar), and is comparable to intraframe MPEG-2. Note that many MPEG-2 encoders for acquisition applications do not use intraframe compression.
look, we all know/. is full of dupes it's common knowledge. I understand that it's annoying that people are pointing it out on so many stories, but couldn't they just maybe....post less dupes? i know that's some crazy offtopic flamebait trolling there, but seriously. You can check my history, i'm not a troll, and i've never bitched about them before, but can we accept the dupes as at least part of the problem instead of just talking about how annoying the people who point them out are?
I still use win2k. i went to a microsoft playtest a few months back and i was given a free 100% legit copy of winxp and while it wasn't terrible or anything i installed win2k again when my hard drive went. I understand that winxp is more secure and all, but common sense keeps most issues at bay, along with a virus scanner and whatnot.
Ya know. that made me think about something
A lot of people are going to want to stay with the old architecture despite whatever apple starts issuing, i wonder if there's any hope in upgrading what will then be the old powerbooks with newer PowerPC's. I don't plan on getting rid of my G4 anytime soon.
sorry: spelling and grammar probably poor.
I don't think it's like saying no one reads/. anymore. I think it's more like saying no one uses ask.com
Sure there are people that use it, and it's fairly likely that they'll come out of the woodwork over this, but it's similarly true
i do find from personal experience that OS X is easier on the memory usage than Windows, but the default 256MB of ram that my powerbook came with left it a little sluggish. When i'd use photoshop and switch to firefox it'd hesitate and i could hear the hard drive churn. this wasn't too big of a deal, but it wouldn't run battlefield 1942 worth a damn unless i turned down the graphics to a not very prety level. (this could have something to do with it being ported) i'm sure it's usable with 128MB, but in order for some multitasking to go on well. i think it probably requires at least 512MB (i've got 1280MB now).
Doesn't more ram also save some battery power for notebooks by reducing the amount of disk access required?
I saw it as more of a slippery slope towards the insanity that it could be related to something that may (in the author's mind) be used as death ray.
"um... yeah" indeed though
I find it highly unlikely that had he not invented it that no one would have.
I have a hard time believing that major inventions like the lightbulb, the combustion engine, cell phones, the integrated circuit, etc. could end up not being just because of one person. The need for self propelled vehicles, mobile communication, etc will eventually prevail.
Not to mention Robert Noyce.
Because all i have to do to uninstall safari is open finder, go to the applications folder find safari, drag it in the trash and empty it. it's recommended that you have a replacement browser first though
With explorer it's quite more effort if you actually want to fully remove it. if you uncheck "show program" in "set program access and defaults" (win2k sp3+[i think]) for explorer you can still run it by typing a web address in a folder's window, also many programs will use explorer even if its not the default browser
they're likely to go a little into the red of this fine, but it'd be stupid to think that they'd just go on for ever. yeah, sure, they make a lot of money, but it's not like they're going to just write it off. And even if they DID; don't you think the EU would try and do something to further encourage them?
Magnum isn't a brand, it simply refers to a cartridge wich holds more powder, or a gun designed to hold a magnum cartridge. a magnum round is typically (always?) longer than a standard round. I have no idea what a min-magnum round is though.
I don't see how it's abuse when it's legal (i.e. not kiddie porn), especially when they're being paid.
fuck, i guess i should have paid more attention to what i "read". sorry. you can mod me down.
You are a fucking tool.

does any poster who comments anything critical at all about /. HAVE to be modded down?
here comes -1 offtopic
won't they be sluggish running powerpc code?

Does that include the second post that becomes the first post?
that's a good and deflating point and all, but you kinda skipped the whole a new mac is very expensive part.

a) It doesn't really seem that direct. b) hardly anyone uses the "i'm feeling lucky button anymore"

right, i'm sure that he wasn't trying to use it in the micro$oft usage, it was just an appropriate use for a variable.
yeah, it's an advert, i already bought my tickets.
oh, no, wait, read the summary again.
All TV's with screens 13 inches or larger in the united states sold after 1993 are required to have a closed caption decoder.
I guess they found that "shut down" was too complicated and needed to be revised.
i'm at work right now using XP SP1 and it's "shut down"
Am I wrong to think he might be exaggerating?
