The gun being IE. Already, fucking IE starts on some page other than my homepage (google.com) roughly 10% of the times I run it. It's either windowsupdate, or msn something, etc. Imagine if they *really* wanted to take down google. Those occasional mis-starts will become much more frequent.
Microsoft's product manager for Internet security John Browne said he recommends that users not download any ActiveX controls that are not digitally signed, though he acknowledged that this practice is not yet widely observed.
"When PCs started out, people were putting floppy disks on their refrigerators with a magnet, stapling disks together, and not backing up files," Browne said. "Gradually, people caught on. They adopted [other] practices, and the same thing will happen on the Internet."
What a shitty argument. The repercussions of stapling a floppy pale in comparison to today's networked world, where 0wning one machine is all a hacker needs to 0wn others, launch other attacks, DOS, etc.
I'm afraid I agree with you. Two or three years ago, if you'd ask me if I would ever take a job at MS, I would respond hell no. But with the world the way it is now, to be picky is to be out of a job.
I think I read this in/. a long time ago: if you've sold out by 20, you have no heart. if you haven't sold out by 30, you have no brain.
I'll mostly agree with you, but I thought prime was a little too easy. Since you know the NES version, you'll remember how hard that was to beat. (Now that I have NES metroid unlocked on the GC, I'm playing through that, and I'm having a hell of a time keeping from dying!)
Despite the incredible production value, Prime just wasn't as challenging.
This is probably the first thing I get when I'm doing a new windows installation. For larger files, its a must. You also don't have to deal with browsers using their cache directory to download, and then *copying* it to the directory you really wanted. (Who the hell thought of doing it that way?)
I wish I knew what the big deal is about checkers. When I first found out there are checkers world championships, I was shocked. How competetive can it be? I don't see how every game between two people slightly smarter than a pillow doesn't end in a draw.
I'm down with what you're saying, but navigator should not have crashed based on input anyway. You unintentionally point out that Nav 3 was in fact either a POS, or heading there very quickly.

I don't think she's that cute at all. See photo on yahoo. And I don't see what she'd do with a country, seeing as how she already has a Greek island... wow.
Hmm... ya, you're right. I remember the days when word processors and 3D modeling applications were all written in HTML and javascript for all to use... fucking microsoft...
Check out the wired article about the sfx in matrix2. Very interesting stuff.
To summarize: wow.

I thought April Fools jokes were supposed to not suck.

I'm interested in how many Libraries of Congress the black whole weighs.
*wooosh* (making palm down hand motions, over head)
OK, I'm down with modern-day new-fangled design strategies, but sometimes a table does exactly what I need, with a minimum of effort. Am I evil?

... except that it's not "each and every." You're blowing it way out of proportion, so you can rant.
Umm.... still lost. How many "lengths of a football field" is that?
Profanity is the crutch of inarticulate mother fuckers.
Rarely do I laugh out loud at /. comments. Thank you, good sir.
If this machine is not used as some amazing software piracy hub.... well, it damn well should be.
I think Amazon should patent "method and apparatus of pissing people off by filing stupid ass patents."
How the f*** do you graphically represent gigabytes of genetic data in a meaningful way
Was that the title of any of your research papers?

Two atoms are walking down the street. One bumps into a pole, and he says: "Ack, I think I lost an electron."
The other atom asks, "Are you sure?"
The first atom replies, "Yes I'm positive."

What kind of stupid link is this? How about some interesting news instead. (more links)
