What I would kill for is a similar adaptor for NES/SNES systems. No emulator is perfect, so I would like to be able to play my ROM backups from a CD on the actual hardware it was intended to run on.
So.. we all saw the nmap thing, but did anyone else see Morpheus using Kazaa to download pr0n? It was right after Niobe dissed him at the underground orgy...
The problem for Nintendo is and always has been lack of quality titles from 3rd party developers. Their in-house games are high quality, but you can't support a console on one must-have game every 4 months.
That looks nice indeed. Also on my gamecube radar is Viewtiful Joe, and later this month (?) the U.S. release of the Gameboy Player so i can catch up with all the 2D goodness I've been missing out on (I hate 2 inch screens).
This is amazing news. There's no reason why Sony can't capture the pocket videogame market. Nintendo is entrenched, but thats exactly where they were with the SNES; we all saw what happened there with the launch of the playstation.
If anything, Nintendo is wiser now. They now know that being the first to introduce a technology can make or break a platform.
Will the cart-based gameboy SP be able to compare with 1.8GB disc Sony alternative? Will Nintendo ditch the newly released SP in favor of something disc-based? Should be fun to watch.
There are other factors. Its not just Math versus Engineering:
Grad Researcher: Hey look! I made these little AI "bees" and they are swarming all over the screen, see! They are actually communicating! Alumni with money: Looks like a screensaver.
-or- Grad Researcher: Hey look! I made these little robots that are AI "bees", and now they're swarming all over the room, and CNN will be here shortly to take a picture of me, in front of the MIT logo! Alumni with money: Here's a large wad of cash.
On a somewhat related note, why did they choose the last name "Pliskin"? Did it have anything to do with the lead character in Escape from New York (or LA), named Snake Pliskin? Was Kojima a fan of the movie?
His use of a lab coat in a classroom full of horny high school kids was warranted, because you're obviously forgetting the #1 use of any network: pr0n.
You know what I like when I'm playing a game, or watching a movie? A SCRIPT THAT MAKES ONE OUNCE OF SENSE.
I mean, vampires? A plot to kidnap the president, who is for some reason on an oil rig? Every bad guy is some bioengineered decendant of the hero? Your girlfriend paging you every 3.5 seconds (while you're in the middle of a mission) to bitch about your relationship? WTF?
In an industry that has been in the doldrums the last few years, Microsoft consistently has made dumptrucks full of money. Despite their shady dealings and lawsuits, they still register as a respectable company with most Americans. What they can't accomplish through marketing, they will through lobbying.
Microsoft is not going away. Their power will increase until they control every facet of your digital world.
An A double T dude told me that the 7210 has been discontinued due to wierd software/slowdown problems. I guess when you get a few ring-tones and other stuff into it, the interface gets sluggish... The 7250 is supposed to fix this (I think), _and_ add a camera.:)
If I were to take a guess at something having a probability of zero, I'd say it would be something like a statement that was both 100% true and 100% false.
Seems like "waste" is a "waste" of time.

Found via google news. Fuck you, NYT.

I wish I was a hardware hacker....
Try this: open the png in one tab, and the jpeg in another. Switch back and forth; they look exactly the same.
:)
Moral of the story: use png.
If people didn't want Flash working, why would they post that they had (success|failure) getting it to work?
After many hours of work, I finally got Flash working, but I hate it and it sucks!!!
So.. we all saw the nmap thing, but did anyone else see Morpheus using Kazaa to download pr0n? It was right after Niobe dissed him at the underground orgy...
I hate when people cheer at movies!
HELL YA! GOOOO XORNOR!!!
All of this managed to make my Matrix experience just that much harder to enjoy
How interesting. In my case, the shitty movie made my Matrix experience harder to enjoy!
(Read that like Ballmer would.)

I'm a huge fan of 2D games too, but I've never owned a GB because of the tiny screen. Sorry, I can't handle 2 inch screens.
But even more exciting than the gameboy player is the Hori Digital Controller. This is what will make the GB player a must have, at least for me.
That looks nice indeed. Also on my gamecube radar is Viewtiful Joe, and later this month (?) the U.S. release of the Gameboy Player so i can catch up with all the 2D goodness I've been missing out on (I hate 2 inch screens).
Wow.

Why are AI researching building little robots?

Two paragraphs in, I have no idea what the fuck this guy is talking about. Time to read something else.

After studying AI as an undergrad for 4 years...
Read: "After passing AI on my fourth attempt..."
I'd love to know what you base that opinion on.

The twingalaxies article mentions a video of the attempt, but I can't find a link for it. Anyone see it?
I actually thought it was a little too long when I first saw it. I remember hearing many sighs in the theater.
Google cache slashdotted?
That's unpossible!

That statement is only 80% true...
Rarely does a /. comment make me laugh out loud.
