Title: Johnny and Jack
Premise: The stargate and farscape worm hole cross and the SG-1 team ends up on Moya...only to find Anubus and Scorpius working together to control the stargate wormhole technology. Too bad they killed off D'Argo because I think Teal'C would have found him interesting. And to start the whole thing off, O'Neal makes some off-color remark about Chiana.
Glad to see both series back, but getting another season of farscape would have been a real treat.
That way they can't control me...hey if it works for Howard Stern

Very true...object pools in multi threaded systems with proper synchronization can often be counterproductive (in terms of time saved) to just creating a new Object. If you are truly pooling objects to save some state information, then a prototype pattern may be a better way to go. Obviously it all depends on the design and what the developer intends to do with the objects, but in general, keeping the objects in the "eden"/young memory space is most desirable (in terms of gc) Not sure how this plays with Java 5 yet as I have not profiled on that version.
Businesses/corporations have bigger "guns" as in lawyers so individuals would havve a tough time defending patents against the likes of IBM, MS, HP, etc. Justice may be blind, but it knows the scent of money. Just think, a poor old soul would have to devote his/her entire time and money in defending the patent while the bigger corps can just assign an intenting lawyer to the case. I wonder who would really when when you count the "chips" in the end.
I think so Brain...is the virus protected by the DMCA and the other various software laws that prevent reverse engineering? If so, who is really in the wrong here?
Depends a lot on what you want out of life. I grew up in NYC and have since moved west (after tours in FL and TX). I miss the more "mature" attitide and cosmopolitan nature of the city life. Is it enough for me to move back? Not right now, I got a great life, and a house that would cost millions in NY --and I laugh at what the people here call "traffic". The downside is that it is cowboy country and the city is a 5x5 block of buildings maybe at most 20 stories high. Not just country music and every other car being a pickup^H^H^H^H truck with a gun rack or at least a painted one in the window, but their attitudes towards those different "folk". There is a higher degree of racism (at least as I see it) and people aren't as "worldy"...save the "transplants" from the East or West coast, very few people have seldom been out of their our county, let alone the US. It just seems that their views and experiences are much narrower and such are the offerings in many of these places.
As the saying goes, the grass is alwasy greener on the the other side. Well there are some things to be said about concrete.
1. Put the tank(s) in a giant vacuum (just be careful when entering and leaving and NO marshmellows allowed within 100m of the tanks)
2. Remove all the O2 from the DC area (mostly likely already in progress based on things we've seen coming from congress and the house...they are breathing something, but I doubt it's just air)
1. Do most trekkies except the way Klingons have changes in appearance since the original series? Changes
2. What type of car do most trekkies drive? SUV, hybrid, Dodge defiant?
3. Do any of them buy the fact that even the slightest blast cases fires/sparks on the bridge? Do they hold the lowest price enterprise contractor responsible?
I did...eletrical contact cleaner and pencil erasers...damn things still didn't work half the time. I think we found that if we didn't look while we inserted it, it would work more often.
I haven't read the enitre article, but I've given up on Sony and PLextor drives since they don't (at least the last time I checked) all you to set the booktype when writing DVD+R/RW media to DVD-ROM. This is important for backwards compatiblility with older DVD players and even the xbox. If you give some of these players a DVD+R disc, it won't read/play it. Take the same media, set the booktype to DVD-ROM and the most of the players will then play/read the data you have written to the disc.
The Lite-ON and NEC drives (with hacked firmware) allow you to set the booktype. I think BenQ allows it as well, but I can't confirm that since I don't have any BenQ DVD burners.

My cousin is a salemen for doubleclick (hey don't DoS me, I'm just passing on some info). When he took the job, I told him he was working for one of the top ten internet public enemies, but sales are his thing and doubleclick did generate sales. I don't recall thhe exact figures he quoted me a few months back, but the number of doubleclick related ads on the web was well into the billions (not hard to believe) so even relatively few sales generated via doubleclick translated into $$$ for them.
Longhorn's timezone map will no longer include Bra{z|s}il. Instead, Bra{z|s}il will no be moved to Antarctica and be foreced to use that TZ. In the area of SA formerly occupied by Bra{z|s}il, will now exist a DRM province which will headquarter the RIAA and MPAA.
Among the first things an xbox modder does is check out the dvd drive. Generally speaking, the phillips drives are the worse. The thompson drives can be okay, but the samsung drives are considered to be the best because they will allow for the widest reading range of media (cd-r, dc-rw, dvd-r, etc.)
In my experiences, the phillips drives are the hardest to read with, even just slightly scratched or dirty dvds give it problems...the thompson and samsung drives are able to read the same discs with no problems most of the time (some discs are just play unreadble). My thompson drive will read cd-rw disks but only from select media vendors, the samsung drive seems to read everything (hence the reason I've upgrade the 2 phillips drives with samsung drives).

...just a random thought, but I would suspect that the one whose copy protection is the easiest to break may end up "winning" as that is the one many people would find to have the most "freedom" to use how they wish without all the tacked on restrictions (warranted or otherwise).
