I think it's mostly a human "fault". Everybody has a moral compass more a less. I suspecy for very few it's always pointing directly North (eveyone has mud on their shoes), while for many of the "chronic" pirates. it's always due South. For many others, myself included, it's in the middle. I'll find something on a torrent/usenet group that looks interesting (may be music or sw) and if I truely like it, I'll buy it (doom3, far cry, painkiller, Children of Dune soundtrack come to mind). Now I don't always immediate delete the stuff I don't like, but I don't use it either. Now there are tons of gray areas; downloding tv shows from a torrent...is that legal? I could have tivo'd it, but someone else just happen to do it for me.
I think part of the other problem with piracy is just civil disobedience (largely from people of our mind set) who are feed up with all the rules about what we can watch/hear, when we can watch/hear, and how often we may do so as dictated by the larger corporations.
Now this would make XBMC fully complete. Instead of having to youthe xbox controller, if you could you the xbox media center remote to control XMMC, then that would justify getting the xbox media center extender for me....forget the MS software, just the hardware to better enable XBMC
....I use to use one of those automatic birds that would carve the letters into the stone tablets, but the cost of replacement beaks was very high (and BTW, only use OEM beaks, 3rd party beaks void your bird warranty)
All these pledges to increase this and double efforts here and there and no mention on how we [US] citizines will pay for it. Tax cuts are just great and make a candidate sound like the right answer, but at what overall cost? Let's just keep running up the national debt, while the quality of our schools/education, transportation systems, and civil servants decline. I think that as US citizens we have a duty to pay for what this country can and does provide. I'm not saying I want higher taxes, but where else will the money come from? IMHO, since we are in a "time of war", we should increase our taxes to fund the efforts of the war and if anyone deserves a tax cut, it should be the men and women who are serving or have served in the military. Many of them and their families have already paid too much.
Could be a decent product line...the Segway golf cart/personal vehicle. Handy when you live close to the course, but not close enough to lug all your clubs or when you want to tear up the fairways and/or greens. Personally, I'd spend too much time with it in the bunkers.
Well I can tell that my mailman/person has gotten much happier as CS has decreased in size. I remember him one time complaining about how big it was and that it accounted for 1/3 or so of his mail bag weight. I told him that I got all the neighbors gift subscriptions. There was a slight bit of panic for a second til he realized I was kidding.
It's great for playing movies, music, and showing the family the vacation pictures on the big screen. However, as you eluded to, the XBMC can not record tv shows or any "outside" video feed. That being said, I own 4 xboxes all equipped with XBMC for the majority of my multimedia enjoyment.
Now why were they waiting for Katie Couric's big head to pop? They would save that for a slow news day or to get her another George Foster Peabody award.
I suspect that those software engineers will set sail east across "the pond" in search of a land were they can have rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Rights that many in our government are trying to take away [if you aren't "with them"]. We tried it over here, it worked for about 224 years and at last the western empire is starting to crumble.
Well stadium use would be great. Could use the wifi access to track your fantasy football teams, and with the GPS/bluetooth integration, you could pay the beer guy and have him locate you (come on, section, row, seat info is so dated). As a bonus, since it is waterproof it should be protected from most stadium served beers, especially the likes of Coors, Bud, Miller....now if they are serving Guinness, or some oatmeal stout, you may want to buy the extended warranty.
Direct all interested parties to the/. IT section and tell them that that color scheme was patented. It will show them without a doubt how wrong and dangerous patents can be with the current system.
Wouldn't it be better to ask candidates the same questions? Sure, there may be some questions that are candidate specific, but having 5-10 standard ones for all candidates would be nice in order to get a true "rotten apple" to "crab apple" comparison.
I went to renew my car registration this past year and while stting down at the counter with the clerk, I noticed a little yellow sticky on the lower part of her monitor:
Made me feel nice, warm, and fuzzy...next year, just renew it myself (now where is a yellow sticky when you need one?)
I suspect they will we continue to see and hear/read more about these type of incidents....I also believe we will start to see incidients at that related to non Windows based systems because (a) as *nix/OSS is taking a deeper foothold in systems, more flaws are bound to show up (b) MS will make sure that those incidents get reported to as many outlets as possible to show people that it's not just them.
Since the US educational system [k-12] is all about memorizing and less about how to think and apply knowledge these days, and with kids watching so much tv, us the border(s) for education. You can put the multiplication tables on one side, state information on the top border, lunch ads on the other side, and critical thinking at the bottom [border].
Better yet, put Canada on the top border, Mexico on the bottom border, and the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans on the left and right respectively.
ActiveX I can see, but java applets by default run in a sandbox so I don't see how they belong in the same exploit category in the context of which you are mentioning it. Now if you grant an applet permission to access your PC [explicitly or by messing with your java security settings], then it's your own damn fault. Likewise, if you install a java application, it's like installing any application...you better know what you are installing and what the program's true intentions are when you execute it.
I'm basing that battery life assumption based on my Motorola i730 phone that has GPS functionality. I'm sure dedicated GPS units are much more efficient.
..about the satellite radio biz. Maybe all those tin foil hats can actually serve a purpose now.
sweatshops...hence the productivity increase.

in reverse....dopi2U
yep...I was hoping for more of a power-on/off addition (yes, I know that you can add that with some minor hw hacking as well)
Now this would make XBMC fully complete. Instead of having to youthe xbox controller, if you could you the xbox media center remote to control XMMC, then that would justify getting the xbox media center extender for me....forget the MS software, just the hardware to better enable XBMC

Well then tat must really suck

I agree, but maybe not a million times :)

Here in the US, AMC gets new releases.
Didn't they find cave drawings of cavemen that used combovers? The difference being that the combover covered most of their entire bodies.
at least they got that part right-Allllriiiiight
for MS if it was granted to them and given Gates a bunch more bling bling.
