Also big fat flash/dhtml ads hovering over the screen. Usually they have some bug ("tested on IE"..) so they don't display properly, can't be closed (I esp. love these ones!) or just fk up the whole page.
I see them rarely but I guess that's mainly cuz once I got annoyed by such a thing I'll avoid the site where I encountered it.
I guess we'll see more of them in '04 since the old popups/unders are getting more and more blocked as most browsers come with some kind of builtin adfilter nowadays.
Perelman used the Ricci Flow, blow-up arguments, and surgery to prove the Thurston Geometrization conjecture (a theorem far more powerful than the Poincare Conjecture alone).
They'll adapt. Nemo 2 will be only 6000 frames (whole happy end in 50 frames!). But how? New projector technology runs the film at 1 frame/sec. And it's still a motion picture cuz every frame is morphed into the next.
Erm, sorry to jump on your OT-article but what you say is bs. Banning cellphones from driving is one of the good laws that actually adds to safety. Anything that distracts your attention from the street (remember, you're moving) is to be avoided.
And btw in police cars, firetrucks and ambulances there usually is a 2nd person and NOT the driver responsible for comm. And these vehicles are a whole different story anyways but I'll tell you 'bout that another time...
Just while you mention NEC. I can't recommend the 1300A either.
I have one and it writes, yes, but only at 2x. I've tried four different brands (last one was RITEK4) of -R and +R media but to no avail, no 4x speed. There's hacked firmware available to extend media support. But not even that has given me a single 4x-burn so far. I even tried nero when trust in cdrecord left me - same.
So if you're like me and expect a device that's labeled with "4x speed" to actually deliver 4x write speed on not-so-exotic media (verbatim, platinum, rico, traxdata). Then don't get a 1300A. Maybe don't get a NEC at all. That's what I'll do, at least for storage devices.
My Matrox does that too every now and then but it could usually be fixed by switching to another console and back. No showstopper for me but if someone really depends on fb for whatever reason I guess they'd not be happy...
Once that core team leaves (and I'm not talking about XFree86 here) then the project usually dies. Why? Because even though the code is in the public domain there is a lack of willingness to get involved or a lack of skill of those who ARE willing or a lack of time for those who are both skillfull AND willing.
Besides, how do you get more info? Those little headlines don't do much for me. I normally want more info.
Check out rawdog.
I don't think E-Mail would be the right set of protocols to be upgraded with "p2p file sharing features".
I mean, y'know.. *cough*complexity*cough*
I'm not sure whether switching from one addiction to another is really what he wants to do.
I know some people who are passionate tea-drinkers but at least one has told me it can become an addiction no less than coffee.
I don't drink much coffee nor tea myself (but am hooked on the cigs..) but when I do I notice they give me a similar buzz (esp. black or green tea).
Well, guess it also depends on what kinda tea you drink and how you make it. That's a science of its own after all.
What exactly is that RO-waterfilter doing?
I thought if you want clean water you'd cook it...

It's the old arms race I guess..
To this day I would still like a screen saver with entertaining local headlines and weather -
I usually just pipe the output of a script to phosphor.
The script fetches news from various sources and just keeps scrolling them by, properly formatted for a human to pick up this or that "at a glance".
If you find something that lets me use a http-url for a screensaver (with autorefresh and maybe some eyecandy), I'd be interested.
But then again, how often do you sit down to watch your screensaver? [insert abolished 2003ish smiley here]
Cookies crumbs + ZIP-Drive = Crunch of death.
Hang yoursel..oops!
Nevermind.

Uh, he's way behind. Why didn't he use this?
Right. Now you visit a web page and hope it doesn't fsck up your web browser. Fun.
Reminds me of when I was using MSIE...

I wonder what all those chicks end up doing when they become too old and nobody wants so see their tits anymore.
For every friggin' New York Times Article 10 people stand up and complain about registration.
So where's the login/pass for this link?

But when using this method please keep in mind: "Striping" will not increase reading performance here!

Don't forget reason #1: lack of documentation...
Yes, the dreamcast is a very nice gadget to play around with.
And there are lots of docs about running UNIX on it, too!
The bad news is that the cpu is a bit too weak for serious video-playback.
But hey, you can build a cheap-ass webserver from it.
I'm still worried about DRM.

Exactly, it'd just stay up and rollin' till mommy turns the light out.
And I was shocked when my powerbill for this year arrived...
Is there an description of this item available anywhere else?
Preferrably on a server that respects my privacy?
