    I think you misunderstood.

Take your example, the assembly outputs do depend on the license of the raw souce code but NOT depend on what the license the gcc applies. Sometimes gcc even optimises the final output of your code by using some hints which use GPL but i guess gcc wont force you convert your souce code and final compiled assembly to GPL license.

Font file is like hints stored in gcc in the above case. It helps producing the final results but not a part of source.

For my understanding, the final font shape in a document is a result of running render engines with font files. For example, TrueType font file includes many instructions of how to draw those chars, and those instructions are executed by freetype/layout algorithm... etc.

From this point view, a font file is a kind of macro set, or, a program about drawing. The documents it produces should be not related to GPL. Like you dont need to open your data even it produced by a GPL program. Unless someone wants to use font files to their software applications.

I cannot see where such a chip mobile phone can stand in the market, although I think it is good as an component embeded in some equipments.

As I remembered, in 1999, when most Chinese email services offered 2M space for free account, Sina, one of the leading .com companies started to provide 50M free space to attactive people applying their account. Then other competitors following up to add their space to 20M, 50M and 100M... and go to our campus and send us free email accounts for all students. Finally, etang.com says they provided unlimited free space to every one and put this to the adverts.

After couples months, most of them declared a free "large space" emails are "unmaintainable". Sina decreased their account from 50M to 5M, and even a company called 263 canceled their free email service, "As a professional ISP, we dont need click rate from the unrelated public" they explained the reason something like that.

Till now etang still provides unlimited space email access if you pay about 40 USD a year(Sorry, it is Chinese). But most people never interest it.

Regarding my previous experiense, a "unlimited" email space is not the key point attacting public to their service. The more important question is : HOW LONG?
