If it prevents you from "wronging" other systems, then yes, I do think it's right.
If you were a carrier of some biological disease (say, Typhoid Mary) should the state have the right to separate you from the rest of the populace and force you to receive treatment? Yes, because, to quote a line from a movie I saw once, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one."
If you don't want anyone mucking with your PC, put it behind a firewall. If people don't have the knowledge of how to do this, or how to install anti-virus software, then they also probably would not notice this anyway.
And how much different is this from you sending me a virus from your PC? True, you didn't do it deliberately, but by not providing protection, you allowed your PC to alter mine without my authorization. All this system seems to be doing is returning the favour, but by doing some good in the process.
...but not to power it. I'd like to have it power the AC or heater (or engine block heater for those in Minnesota) while the car is parked.
That way, when I get into my car that has been sitting out baking in the sun all day, I don't have to wait until I'm halfway home before it cools down.
While solar cars certainly are cool to look at, unless there's a major breakthrough in solar tech, I don't see a solar car ever going into production.
It's redundant because the text is already available it NYT.com for you to read. If you're unwilling to register to use the FREE service of reading their articles, then you don't get to read the article. How hard is that?
Rave all you want, but at least Windows users don't have to pay $130 every year for an OS upgrade. Yeah, there's new features, but this doesn't seem like much more than a service pack, which Microsoft GIVES you for FREE.
This just puts another dent in the "Macs are cheaper to use" defense...
Steve-o called this the year of the laptop, but with their current problems with Powerbook screens and their new focus on iTunes, it seems that Apple as a quality computer company is dying.
Why should I shell out $$$ for an Apple laptop when I can head down to Best Buy and pick up an Intel laptop for half the cost? Not to mention that I would have 1000s more pieces of software available for me, all of which I can get anywhere.
This is too little, too late for Apple. They're dying, and everyone sees it except the Mac users themselves.
"Unless Any Music decides to make radical changes to their service model, a Windows-based version of this hardware will still remain a closed system, where owners cannot access content from other services. Additionally, users of this are limited to music from LabelGate's Music Store. As I mentioned earlier, this is a drawback for Windows users, who expect choice in music services, choice in devices, and choice in music from a wide-variety of music services to burn to a CD or put on a portable device,"
...is will it let me print out scans of money?
Hopefully these aren't just warning shots...

I think the PB also had a wireless card so he could connect with Timbuktu or something to load up new music from inside his house.
The buttons on the steering wheel triggered macros that let him not only skip/rewind, but also remove unwanted songs from the playlist.

Everyone always says that "Yeah Macs are more expensive, but the cost of ownership is lower compared to Microsoft". That's what I was referring to.

Sony already makes Clies. Why don't they base the phone off that?
And for that matter, why Memory Stick Duos? What's the difference between that and a regular memory stick?
