I didn't pay for Starcraft, and me and my friends used BNetD to play it for years. I'm not saying Blizzard was right to kill the project, but maybe they had their reasons.
Yes, and you just demonstrated them exactly. One of the reasons Blizzard's games sell so well is that when people buy them, they're not paying for the (easliy copied) software, but the unique registration key that let's them get on Blizzard's online services. With BNetD, however, people can play the games online without a key, which defeats the whole system.
The Hole Hawg is dangerous because it does exactly what you tell it to
The (supposed) problem in this case, though, is that the Google software will do things that it was not (explicitly) told to do, and that users might not expect it to do, or even realize it is doing.
Well, probably not too many siginicant differences in the actual lights (aside from what you mentioned), but if the image were a new composition I would have expected to look at least a little different due to different artifacts from it being a new compression, combination of new images, etc.
There is a very VERY bad anime called Sailor and the Seven Ballz that features this, if that's your thing. (Not that I'd watch something like this or anything...)
And of course, another nice quote from the story posted on Blues News:
As for the link between Manhunt and the crime, the police are clear. Pooni said: "We haven't connected the game with the murder and we've already made that statement, but some sections of the media chose to ignore it...the motive was robbery."
Well, perhaps SOME probability threshold, but since the charge would not be "manslaughter" but "first-degree murder" with the possibility of the death penalty, you'd have to think you had a pretty high chance of getting away with it in the middle of the theater to make it worth your while. This also assumes you had no additional moral objection to it.
Does prior art even need to be found to invalidate this? I thought blatantly obvious things couldn't be patented in the first place. This certainly seems like a pretty simple and obvious extension to me, especially if the other type of transparancy (a static snapshot of the background) already existed.
"life arising from a common source could have existed for a time on both worlds"
This was described as a "distinct possibility".

This was described as a "possibility".
I agree that these are the same, but since they were also described the same way (as possibilities, NOT as having conclusive evidence), I don't see any problem.
When you watch tv, turn on the radio to a low sound level.
Even if you have the tv up loud, its still annoying.
I think a card fan wouldn't be nearly as distracting as a radio, since it's just white noise and not speech or music. I do agree though that the fan could be annoying when doing non-gaming stuff... maybe they could make a fan that only comes on when the gfx card is being heavily used?
If they unbundled IE, why the hell wouldn't the help files simply use the designated default browser??
If Windows doesn't ship with a default browser, they probably couldn't assume the user had one installed.
Hm, that could be... and the fact that they've cancelled Sam and Max as well (and not for quality) does make it look a little suspicious. Still, it wouldn't be the first time an adventure game was cancelled for quality reasons part way through development (Warcraft Adventures comes to mind).
The real question should be, why is LucasArts canceling projects so close to their completion dates???
Well, from what I recall, the new Full Throttle was basically cancelled because it sucked (unlike Sam and Max, which was cancelled because Lucas Arts, for some reason, just decided they didn't want to sell it).
It might be reasonable to suspect one race more than another, if one race tends (for whatever reason) to do it more often than another.
As for being unconstitutional, are you referring to the "equal protection under law" bit in the 14th amendment? I don't think racial profiling violates that, because all people are being treated exactly the same- their probability of being a terrorist is (objectively) evaluated, and the corresponding action taken.
He didn't say NO whites could be terrorists, just that race could factor into the probability (and it probably does, to some extent). He also never said anything about blacks being more likely- in fact his example was a middle easterner.

Looks like it's down now (the 40mb one at least).
Isn't this just a repost of the 2000 pic? The thumbnail is brighter, but the actual image looks about the same.
what's the problem with having a wide open network if you've got your computer all patched up and are encrypting your e-mail, etc?
The problem is that people (e.g. spammers) can anonymously abuse the internet connection.

I wonder if this update fixes the stupid problem described in 323009 - Internet Connection Firewall Does Not Filter or Provide Firewall Services During Startup and Shutdown. I thought this was supposed to be fixed in SP2, but I don't see it in 811113 - List of fixes included in Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Yes- the new password will be "LexLuthor".

Actually this story is about GameBlender.org coming back, while the other story was about the game engine being restored. Related, but different.
It would probably be a good idea to make the chip stateless- no need to ever reset it then (in fact there wouldn't be any state to reset).

Something like Rez?
Uh, which Dell 64 bit PCs are you using for this comparison? Does Dell even sell a 64 bit PC?

Could be, my memory's a little fuzzy. I thought in Fallout2 you could at least marry some farm guy though.
