"Anyone who has a kid knows if they like their kids movies then there's got to be a easy way for them to watch it."
"I don't think Jr is really going to be all that excited about all the apps."
I ripped all of my kid's DVDs for an iPod Touch because it was the easiest way for him to watch them. He can operate the thing without any help and it has a ton of age-appropriate learning/edu games from the App Store on there as well. He loves them. I limit his time with it pretty heavily and I've got the parental controls enabled, but that iPod is absolutely his favorite thing in the world.
He's 3 years and 7 months old.
Don't feel sorry for me and my "regular" iPhone. There's no 3G coverage in my area, I don't use GPS and the location data in the current iPhone is good enough for most apps. The battery life is nice, but battery life isn't an issue for me currently so meh.
As for the real apps, I'm getting those too, in case you didn't hear. That little software upgrade at the beginning of next month will leave me plenty happy with my regular iPhone.
The only thing that has me a little bit jealous is the price point, but I'll gladly eat the $100 difference for the bliss I've experience over the last few months from having not used Windows Mobile.
Agreed. I'm also using D-Link's DNS-323. I bought two 500GB drives and set it up in a RAID1 config. It's been perfect since the day I got it up and running.
"But that's just inside your borders. It's far worse if you include the atrocities your country commits outside your borders, pretending that you don't need to uphold your own values when its not US soil, and not US people, as if they are any less human than you."
Good thing someone clued us in! Who else knew about this and didn't say anything? Where would us poor clueless American citizens be without foreign Slashdot commenters to fill us in?
Why do people always review the install?...Microsoft isn't pushing their OS for its easy install. You never hear about OS X's install...Why is linux judged by it's ease of install!?
Because unlike the two OS's you compared it to, Linux doesn't come installed by default on 99% of computers. Most Windows and Mac OS X users never see the OS installer, if they're lucky. Almost all Linux users will see AND use the installer if they want to use the OS. That's why.
If my company didn't require a car for my job, I would cycle to work everyday.
Which brings up my everyday mode of transportation. Sure there's a little risk involved, but if you really want great gas mileage, take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course at your local Community College and then get yourself a bike. I'm averaging about 65mpg per tank right now and it's a hell of a lot more fun than driving a Prius.
I'll vouch for the band as well. These guys always have been a class act, and I have no doubt Tim wrote that himself. As for being signed with Sony, I'm fairly certain their contract was acquired by Sony when they went on a small-label buying spree. I could be wrong, but that's how I remember it going down.
And libel assumes they're not telling the truth. Sometimes people just need a forum for the truth. That's one of the most fascinating things about the Internet, to me. I wonder just how often a message board, blog or website has given voice to a group of people who otherwise would have no way of speaking out?
Now, lets say that Microsoft hires 300 second tier Linux developers at 100k each plus benefits (lets say 130k to be conservative). This means that it is costing them nearly 10M dollars just to retain these people for a year.
I hate to be the one to nitpick but...
300 employees @ $130,000 per employee = $39,000,000
That's a little more than "nearly 10M dollars". Just saying.
2.7 Million minus one. As of this afternoon I am cancelling my Vonage account. Why? I waited a year for them to pick up my local area code and exchange, which they said was coming when I signed up. It didn't come fast enough. Sorry, Vonage.
IF I decided to put VoIP back in service in my home (as opposed to just using our cells), it will be with Packet8. Packet8 not only has my area code and exchange, they also have E911 service for my area (and most other areas) AND they're cheaper.
Syndication. You do it for the same reason you use a TiVo to get new television content instead of a VCR. I don't want to manually check a page for new files and then manually download the new ones, just like I don't want to manually program a VCR and load a tape. I want a feed that iTunes can check for new content, then download said content for me and then update my iPod with the new content. Waking up to fresh content on my iPod in the morning versus spending an hour at work downloading files and updating it is the difference to me.
Besides, I need that hour to read/post on Slashdot.
"Tennents in "hotels, conference and convention centers, airports, and colleges and universities" have the right to run their own WiFi equipment, and the landlord has no say in the matter."
*As long as said tennent isn't connecting said WiFi equipment to the landlord's network. Otherwise, the landlord has complete "say" in the matter.
Let me get this straight. This guy left the MS job he was contractually bound to, will probably have to leave the Google job he just got, and probably won't be able to get a job in his area of expertise because any potential employers will fear having their pants sued off by MS?
Also interesting to note that the Navy rejected her invention for 17 years after her and her partner received a patent. WWII completely missed out on spread spectrum military applications because of thick-headed Navy officials. Nice.
The Microsoft quote seems to be used out of context by the Slashdot author. That quote came as a response when the journalist's "expert" was asked about knowingly sharing your ISP connection via WiFi. It was not used in reference to the alleged crime the Tampa man was arrested for. It's one thing not to RTFA, it's another to read it and then quote it out of context.
White Dwarf Linux loads in only 13MB of Flash memory but has more than enough features and apps to run an embedded system. Just another option to be considered while they're being tossed out.

You can print to Target from Flickr as well. I've been doing it for a couple of years now.

It's just about the coolest thing ever...
Well that doesn't sound like it works very well.
Ooooor they can advertise you for location-specific targeting.

Are they subcontracting the manufacturing of the robots to Cyberdyne Systems?

What's insane is that making a criticism of the company is perceived these days as "a liability for incalculable damages".
That's insane.
No, that's redundant.
I can't speak from experience, so I'll just ask. How about Open Directory on Mac OS X Server? Good? Bad?

Does it also make IE standards compliant? Add transparent png support? No thanks.

Does "body modification" include taking a shower? Because some of the people I've worked with could really stand to have some serious work done.
