    what about contact number just for friends and family. Of course you wouldn't want to give your main number to a random girl in a bar who might start stalking you, so you have a new number just for that occasion. you may also prefer a number to be used by services that you have to sign up for. and it goes on

    I suppose it depends on whether the child porn laws are more about protecting the children or more about suppressing freedom. If the former, then these scanners should violate the law as they are exposing innocent children to strangers, but cartoons should be OK as no actual children are harmed. If the latter, then the scanners are ok and cartoons can be illegal.

    well 2009 was so last year. and the games are always released a year early, madden 09 was actually released in 08. But yeah, this is pretty disgusting. one more reason to avoid EA games. forced obsolescence is the new hotness for the new decade

    So the first step is not to determine if she in in fact a man or a woman, but to define what differentiates a man and a woman. Surely there already is a definition for this that the Athletics people use.

      To change this definition now would be like changing the rules of a game after the game is over. She won under the rules as they were at the time. Maybe for future events the rules can be different, but as long as she fit the rules at the time of the race she should win IMO

    Running is all about genetics though. The fastest runners happened to have the best genes for running. This girl may just happen to have exceptionally good genes. I think it would be unfair to penalise her for that.

    I don't see how this type of maths affect the average persons thinking. When I decide how many kids to have I sure don't think about the possibility of my race being a minority in 100 years. We're all human after all, what race you or I belong to is moot. All I consider is how many kids I "want" to have.

    So far it appears that the more well off and developed a society, the fewer children are produced.

    have you thought about the posibility that when robots do all the jobs that no one wants to do, productivity might increase by enough to allow all the people to live comfortably. Also I don't think that valuing people only by their economic worth is very nice.

    If its an enevitable ending then why are there a number of socialist states that are not at all under threat of becoming communist. And your premise that under a socialist state, "I have no reason to work harder" is completely false. Yes the state will take care of me if I choose not to work. But if I want a Big TV, travel the world, have a champange dinner, etc etc, then I need to get a job to improve my lot. Socialism is not Communism.

    how exactly is a DSL modem not a modem? it takes a digital signal and converts it to an analog signal and vise versa. I thought this is the pure definition of a modem

    well he is somewhat right. But the UN doesnt recognise Taiwan, well not since the USA stopped recognising them to improve relationships with the Mainland.

    But the Taiwanese Govt wasnt the original, that would be the Qin Govt. but yes the Taiwanese Govt was for a time Govt of China until kicked out(more like ran for their lives, literally) by the Communist revolutionaries.

    i have to agree, I used to think that it was a good movie when I was a kid. But a few months ago I watched it again, and aroud 2/3 of the way into it I was so bored I couldn't finish it. There was nothing good about it.

    you do realise that for most of the world, firefly has never appeared on TV. And so, at least for me, I don't pay attention to topics about a TV show im not likely to get to see for a long time.
