Perhaps Schwarz should put out the new open source Solaris' with his preferred bazaar-like development model and show Linus and the rest of us how it's done.
Though this is worded a little friendlier than I would have put it, I agree.
C'mon Johnathon, put your money where your mouth is. Do what Ballmer is too afraid to do, or shall we just call you Johnathon Ballmer?!
How can anyone software development take place without some kind of leadership?! If that puts it in the cathedral category, then linux is a bazaar cathedral!
This seems eerily familiar to a tactic our friends at MS have been using to scare people from Linux.
I think sun is scared because they're fast on their way to becoming irrelevent. Of course, there are die-hard sun fans and sun is great because bla bla bla.
I am a student in college and have worked for a local university for the last 4 years and will be stopping when I graduate this December.
People are always going to school and universities tend to not be effected by economic downturns. If anything, I'd say they benefit from downturns because a flux of people appear to go back to college. Adding, that universities tend to always be growing, they tend to also need tech people. This makes for a very stable work environment.
Users of half-life have to connect to Valve's servers to play their game or it won't work. Mp3's don't care where they're played.
RIAA and MPAA have no lessons to learn here. Apples and Oranges...
Your values are just different. I value a simple player my girlfriend can figure out that is small enough to live in my pocket. The rio offers 5 gigs of storage for $249. That's not really value, if you ask me.
In both things, which I value, the ipod wins.
You get what you pay for! A great system that runs everything you need and is business friendly orrrrrrr linux, which I love, but the business world isn't too fond of yet.
You decide.
Think of all the people in texas who rfid kids at school and vote for bush. "I don't want no honkey open source fire whozawhatthe on my computer! I want something I can trust like the rifle I keep under my pillow!"
No offence Corel, BUT WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN DURING THE ENTIRE LINUX REVOLUTION?!?!?
Ok, so they made Corel Linux... that really went well didn't it.. And they also made Corel Draw for Linux... people really cared about that one too... They also had Word Perfect out for Linux a little while ago, but then no one cared because of Star/OpenOffice.
Good luck Corel, you are DEFINITELY GOING TO NEED IT. Actually, my advice Corel, just close up shop.
NOT!

Ouch! That's not very good at all!

I think Apple made what you're looking for. Seriously, I've been able to do everything I would do on a linux system with no problem on my mac.

I don't understand why netscape bothers... I'm not meaning to troll either. Anyone care to shed some light on this?
Of course it slams Linux on Sun's website you filthy twat.
I nominate Bill Gates. Dude ain't right, you know? Gotta be a robot.
At work we call it SlowWalrus. People should just read Unix Programming. Solaris is obsolete doo doo.
thats because I'm awesome!
You say fsck, to avoid saying the f word. But then you say shit? WEIRDO!
You're clearly stupid then.
troof. people just don't appreciate good gestures unless it's their way, right away. should we blame burger king?!?
This is so stupid. Why do people even bother posting things like this.
Why not just give up on life and never attempt to improve anything, right? Lame...

That's right. Way to go. Faeg.
About how they're all out to get me... every book lately has been about that...
Sounds fun. If they send me with a rubber woman I'd be good to go!
I was under the impression 2600 were still talking about how awesome it WAS back in the day.
