There's no 'theft' going on, no matter which way you're looking at it.
example: Alice rips a CD (she bought) and sends it to Bob. Who got robbed of something now?
Actually, in my case (and in the case of most people I know) filesharing (and getting music from friends) has greatly increased the number of CD's I buy by allowing me to easily discover more music.
Of course, most of the music I buy is from non-RIAA labels so they have a reason to sue me anyway.;)
Ahh, that explains. Troika are also the guys that made "The Temple of Elemental Evil". Probably the deepest D&D CRPG to date.
It was severely screwed over by Atari however:( (Atari, perhaps WOTC too, ordered a lot of stuff cut, then Atari released TTOEE without any testing.. bastards)
1. Things changed at linuxgazette.com 2. Some contributers didn't like it (neither do I), and started their own site. 3. They were bright enough to use linuxgazette.net (of all places) for their new site. (even stealing the logo design) 4. linuxgazette.com doesn't like it, and tells linuxgazette.net to start their own site if they want, but not with the linuxgazette name. 5. linuxgazette.net doesn't agree, and the threats start to fly (6. Profit?)
All very reasonable if you ask me.. what if SCO started using something like "L1nux" for their new OS eh?:P
They don't use Windows because it's a lot harder to write programs and you're pretty much locked into MFC if you want to write anything reasonably complex.
Do you have any clue about what you're talking about? MFC is just what the name implies "Foundation Classes" You can just as well use many other libraries, or even ditch libraries alltogether and directly access the API.
You are right about Linux being much more accessible though.
"Now and Then, Here and There".. on US TV?? I agree that it's a great series but.. a bit too nasty for US TV.
There's the rape of that girl, the child army, the interrogation of the main kid, kids shooting each other, etc. Yeah, it has a very good serious story, but I wouldn't expect it to ever air on US TV.
(Of course they could edit it, but that would remove most of the material anyways)
Could be, if I were you I'd just buy either the Japanese R2's (quite a few new releases have english subs on them) or wait for the (usually superior to R3) release of the R1's.
Yes, sadly it seems Bandai is waiting for the show to air on TV in America before releasing the DVD's. Many newer series than GITS: SAC are already (partly) available on DVD, while GITS: SAC isn't even announced yet. (afaik)
Please, post about innovations, not about such idiocies, otherwise it doesn't matter.
Yeah, that'll be much more objective than current/. postings.
All sarcasm aside, this is not a story about Apple, this is a story about a company claiming ownership of an employee's work in his spare time. It doesn't matter if it's Apple or any other company.
And the MS-bashing isn't that bad anymore, just look at the "Microsoft to Launch MSN Music Service in 2004" 2 topics down. What's bashing about that one? It's objective and plenty informative.
It's already happening. Take a look at Valve's (Half-Life, Counter-Strike, etc.) Steam.
Steam is, to say it simply, a server-browser and integrated patching system. And indeed, it has banners during level loads, server browsing, and probably some other places.
It's not that annoying thankfully.. I'd hate to see my rocket launcher firing cola bottles all of a sudden.
I've got 3 friends listening to the same music as I do, and I occasionally send them some music I discover here and there. (oops, should've posted anonymous) And all 3 of them have bought quite a lot of albums by the artists of the music I sent them.
So, the RIAA and the like (although all music I sent them is not even RIAA-owned) would like to have my head on a platter.. while in fact I am responsible for more CD sales.
but unlimited freeloading will defenitely kill any kind of professionalism in music, and since there's a small market for amateur music...
Right, let's not forget that I found 99% of my (quite large) cd collection on the internet first, and then went out to buy the cd's.
And it's not just me, many other people do it the same way..
They use P2P, download music from friends, etc.. and when they like it: they buy the cd's!
It's simple really.. that must be why the RIAA & co. can't understand it.
Gold master CD's on your chest.

Actually, quite a lot of them have it now, in the form of thousands of compromised machines.
Can be used to DDOS, or to compute.
I think we have recursion going on here.
And did I miss the frogs or something?
They're too busy suing the music pirates.
Correct me if I'm wrong:

Silly zealots.
I wonder when we'll get TV broadcasts like this:
If you think yourself a criminal, please follow these instructions:
1. Kill yourself
2. Repeat
This message was brought to you by the Self-Exectution Council.
Or am I being too morbid?
No, back then the deceit was done the good old fashioned way.
No, I believe we're moving to 4 already.
