What kind of bullshit comment is this? You claim that 1 hr a day doesn't matter to someone's personal life, but somehow it would in a working life? You can't just aggregate it to make it look better, that ONE hour is at the end of each day, and its usually the least productive hour anyway (due to fatigue).

Sorry, if it matters to business, then it certainly will show up in your personal life. The fact is, yes, that one hour would make a huge differnece. I could be getting home after work and the gym at 6pm, instead of 7pm and could have dinner at a more reasonable hour.

Anywho, if you want a good cmd shell, get powershell for Vista. Vista also comes with IE; you may not like it, but complaining it doesn't come with FF would be like complaining linux doesn't come with Opera or Safari.

If you really want to do python, you should check out IronPython. Supposedly its faster than many of the other Phython implementations out there.

It is hugely overbloated. Takes 512 just to run(I mean its uses about 450-500mb when it loads to desktop on my brothers laptop with vista basic) and to run anything at a decent speed you need 1-2gb.

Um, its 2007. 1gb or more is pretty standard now. 512 was alot in 2001 when XP was released.. not today.

Now the hardware makers are back to making and updating 2 drivers, for 2000 & xp and vista. Brings up hardware prices and brings down driver quality as it double the bugs needing to be fixed.

Bull. 2000 and XP are different enough that some drivers for 2000 won't work on xp. A good driver model would be immune from API differences in the OS. So its not maintaining two driver's code as much as it is maintaining core driver code, and two different APIs which call into the core.

Last reason is xp works fine, we have a computer still running 2000 it work fine also. My computer in the office runs from monday morning till friday afternoon, usually with out being rebooted or turned off. Why upgrade when everything works fine now and upgrading will just slow everything down.

Who said everyone should just upgrade now? I certainly wouldn't bother putting Vista on a machine it wasn't designed for.. the ones that run 2000 well and the early ones that ran XP.

Skype I think requires special equipment, but with Vonage you literally get a 4 port router, with two phone jacks in the back. You can use normal telephone cord and connect the port on the router to a port in your house, and if you disconnect the POTS network interface box (very simple, not cutting required usually), you now have phone throughout your house.

No one would even know I have Vonage. I keep the router powered via UPS, and my internet connection also has a battery backup (because the same fiber optic lines could carry phone service, if they weren't more expensive than Vonage).

I agree, this lawsuit is going to hurt. And it sucks, becaus there really isn't any reason for simple phone lines to cost so much except for the greed of existing monopolies.

Bullshit. Only one company I ever interviewed for told me up front that overtime was common. I didn't even bother to go back for a second interview. Most companies tell you 40 hrs, but then expect more, and more and more.

If they had to pay hourly beyond it, you wouldn't get as much in the first place.

What nonsense is this? They'd either hire someone else, or adjust to more realistic timelines. If the company is constantly giving you 60+ hours of work. I've been lucky to have all my employers pay me the rate I want and still not expect more than 40 hours.

The company I work for thinks I put in a lot more overtime than I do because I'm so productive. I do put in -some-, but not nearly as much as they think. The deal works out great for both sides. If this law goes through, I'll get a huge paycut (or fired, and someone else hired) and no overtime as well. I'll just lose money no matter how it goes.

That's your own fault; you're letting them think you're less productive than you really are. You need to fix that.

That said, this would be a great idea if they also tarrified outsourced labor. If they don't, it will only drive companys more to China.
