they are just trying to push people towards another goal...perpetual licensing. For a small monthly fee of 29.99 you can license our OS & Software and never worry about installs/activation/etc, just a conection to the internet. In otherwords a service based approach. To access Office services, guess what pay the fee! No fee and you can't get to your data because the software is on their servers. Find a way to read the data at home? Guess what, they change their file formatting, so you either cant edit what you already have or you have to start over. Guess what, just pay the fee. Plus the fact that Joe user usually likes the low low price of $X/month as opposed to $399 up front - look at all the people that get into credit trouble because they figure they can pay the bill over time.
scaling a normal NTSC picture on the EDTV looks MUCH better than on the HDTV. Don't know if this is due to the manufacturer (panasonic vs sharp) or the technology (LCD vs PLASMA), although I've read that NTSC generally scales better to EDTV due to less interpolation required as compared to HD
really the same site, but anyway I have both a Plasma and an LCD TV. Both come highly rated from everywhere I looked.
Plasma: Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY (I think it may be the 5, I've had it two years) which is an EDTV
LCD: Sharp LC-30HV6U LCD TV which is 720p HDTV (1280x768) which I've had about a year.
In my opinion, the overall eye candy goes to the plasma. the contrast / color / picture just looks better. Now this is from a Comcast Cable source, and I haven't kept up on the very latest in the LCD vs PLASMA war.
wish I had Mod points today, there are probably instances where government run facilities are effecient and cost effective. But I've never seen any. Perhaps someone can chime in, but a couple of (BAD) examples I can think of from cities that I've lived in.
Atlanta: wastewater treatment system - even with all of the new development in the past 15 years, the wastewater system had gotten so bad that the EPA was fining them tens of thousands per day in some instances. And this is WATER folks.
DC: Drinking water systems contaminated with lead, that city officials knew about and didn't warn the public. This is W-A-T-E-R meant for consumption.
I used these examples because I am familiar with both of them (Worked on a CE study in Atlanta) and am involved with Waste MGMT in DC.
and by that I mean the legal system. I am certainly not the most liberal person, and believe in limiting access to Violent Games by a Rating system or some such idea.
In other Words, if the parents allow the teen to have the game, it is fine by me, even if I don't agree with it.
But the problem here is not in the game, it is either with the parents or the teen himself, even society. If he can't distinguish fantasy from reality, it is not the games fault (or the publishers/creators).
I do believe society has a responsibility to itself not to always push the blame on someone else - - i.e. some claim it is the fault of the game only, some say it is the parents fault only, etc. IMHO it is most likely a combination of factors, which end up feeding of one another to lead to a bad end, some one needs to step up and break the cycle, yes, but to blame the game is ridiculous.
So maybe they should change the plug from "News for Nerds. Stuff that Matters" to "We Report. You Flame" or "Pale (from living in the basement too long) & At equilibrium"
Did I not say "Not to say anything was wrong", sheesh. All I know is,

but after all of the horror stories I've heard about paypal, and to a lesser extent Ebay, I don't know if I will ever use them. I have used Ebay once, and that was basically just to get in contact with the seller - who had the items available for pick up at a relatively close location. Then, even dealing with that seller, he wanted cash for the cisco routers I was buying, because he was *leaving town* to go back to Russia. Not to say anything was wrong, but definitely didn't feel like the most above board transaction.
the person making that comment will wake up with a melted computer, wrapped in tinfoil, hanging upside down in a freezer with penguins pecking at his eyes, the tattoo OSS Rulez Windows SuX0rZ on his forehead. Not to mention the bad stuff about to happen
the base of the monitor designed to sit directly on top of the Mini? I guess the grandstand would allow 'room for error' in case you bumped the table or computer, the monitor wouldn't fall. Seems they also missed the most obvious color as well, which would be my choice for the grandstand - white.
Did they say she was deceased before the file sharing occured or *after*? Man, I might want to think about settling if the RIAA is gonna send assassins after me for sharing.

As opposed to considering it a dupe, You are in an elite group which gets the backups of the articles before anyone else.
