And it _somehow_ helps "reliability" (relax, nothing ridiculous, I'll explain). Someytimes it happens that one badly written/buggy thread/app decided to take practically 100% CPU under Windows. You could theoretically kill it...but explorer and such isn't exactly responsive. However, on my dual cpu machine this never had happened.

Uhmm...IMHO it's the issue of misunderstanding the roots of the dillema - on BOTH sides.
It's not that it's impossible to attach keyboard or mouse to console (PS2 accepts normal USB ones... and PS1 had it's own mouse) or that it's impossible to do good FPS or RTS on a console (I think one of the most enjoyable FPS experiences for me was Quake2 on PS1 - mouse in right hand, dual shock (force feedback, ANALOGUE movement, 3 keys accesible without movinf fingers + 5 more) in the left; also there was fun RTS, Warzone 2100, that actually played better with Dual Shock than with mouse - developers must only think and create completelly new interface instead of "joypad emulates mouse by moving the pointer"). And it works in the other way too - there are few typically arcade games for PC, a great games I should add.

But that doesn't really matter...it's al about pattern and place of usage. PC sits at the desk - you have monitor, keyboard and mouse right in front of you. Console place is in the living room, and nobody will feel comfortable sitting in the couch and trying to operate keyboard/mouse.
That's it, nothing more, no ideology behind it. (but of course we all now that in the real world fanboys will be most vocal..)

Prokaryotes simply couldn't have such amount of DNA even if they "wanted" to - simply because of it's form (one, loosely packed, loop - not only such amount of genetic material as in humans couldn't possibly fit inside their cells, the process of reproduction would be too long, because of different mechanisms they use, for them to be succesfull in ways they are)

Not much float around...if some mutation gave birth to proteins not doing anything...than that simply didn't do anything to organism and wasn't promoted/denounced in any way by natural selection.
And comparison with bacteria isn't fair...we reproduce at their level all the time, constantly. Your cells that is.
Sure, there's perhaps some "waste" given for example simply the amount of nuclear material...but it gives us so much.
There are things in which bacteria aren't very effective. Sense of sight, for example, is first out of many things I could mention here...
