  1. Lunar Rovers? on Lunar Dustbusters · · Score: 1
Why are we not sending a pair (or cluster no less) of roving robots, like we the ones on Mars, up there to study it ahead of sending weak skintube humans?

There should be a huge push to really advance the robotics technology and deploy these throughout the known galaxy. But of course the stupid humans would rather blow there time, $$ and technology to fight wars and kill each other. Sigh....almost makes one ashamed to be human. Almost?

Is there such thing as "authorized" camcording of films in theaters? If so, they'd better ask to see the passes of those who are authorized before the film starts. Wouldn't want to interrupt their 'authorized' recordings!

  10. Bad press costs millions on Dell Laptop Burns House Down · · Score: 1

If Dell management had any sense about them what so ever they would have a hotline set up for these types of events. Affected customers would then be able to speak directly with someone who can suggest what they can do (call a lawyer/insurance company). By reacting the way Dell did (according to the original poster)and forcing him to post about it on Slashdot to get attention to the case they are doing unimaginable damage to their image. This is really the kind of bad press a corpration does not need (regardless of how large they may be). Skill up Dell Management!

I would gladly switch to using OSX and dumping windows but not until it is officially supported (not talking about osx86) on PC hardware. I realize that I may be waiting a looong time (read: forever) for that to happen but I will never shell out $ for an Apple branded box. I want the OS, not the hardware.

If it were ever to happen you would see a landslide of switchers. This would after several years, I believe, creep into the corporate environment. Microsoft would be the sad nerd at the party that no one talks to. What a sweet vision that would be.

that seems to be the word uttered in many of these 'cure' articles. I really wish they wouldn't build up false hopes for those suffering from these horrible diseases. If you want venture capital support, surely there's got to be a better way to go about getting it.

We had X-Prize for getting into space. Can we not get C-Prize started to find a cure for cancer? With all the hacking skills in the tech world I am certain we could nip cancer in the bud if that talent was applied to hacking the disease.

Wi-Fi Skype enabled phones are ok for some folks on the move but there is a huge untapped market of people who would like this type of connectivity at home.

Ideal would be a Skype base station with integrated camera and screen (or using the TV like D-link's device) for non-techies to use.
