  1. Payment for used suggestions? on Intel to Take Online Suggestions for New Chips · · Score: 1

I certainly hope Intel is willing to financially compensate the people whose suggestions they end up using! "Thanks for the idea! Now please step back so we can reap the billions!"

  4. Reasons..... on Why Linux Has Failed on the Desktop · · Score: 1

while, I wouldn't quite call Linux a failure on the desktop yet.... I will provide a few off the cuff points:

    - Too many distros = confused users.
    - File and directory structure too confusing for Windows users.
    - GUI while greatly improved is still not up to par with Windows (KDE and Gnome need to get join up as one).
    - Users need to be coddled and led by the hand with easy to follow manuals.
    - Application compatibility. Users have their favorite apps in Windows that they refuse to give up.
    - Software developer support. While this is greatly improved in recent years, Linux needs to get more developers on board so we can see more Windows apps showing up with Windows versions.

    -Firecut Xbox
    -Firecut Zune

Ok, silly example hehe...but you get my point. The "Microsoft" image is just not hip, I hear Microsoft and right away get an image of a fat, bald loser throwing chairs. They really need to put all their entertainment products under a fresh cool sounding company name to shake this image.

is there really any doubt that technology is bringing these types of tailored and targeted ads to us sooner than we expected? With holographic technology advancing we will soon have airvertising similar to what we saw in Minority report. Is this a good or bad thing? It's all a matter of perspective I suppose.

if we find a habitable planet. We as a species are simply too corrupt and busy killing and trying to dominate each other to bother with spending money on technology that would get us there.

One can only wonder where we could be in terms of technological advancement if we spent 50% of what is spent on military spending worldwide on sciences.

Any company that is going to be a pull these sorts of antics simply won't be getting any $$ love from me. People forgive and forget far too quickly and thus the big monster doesn't learn it's lesson.

One lesson here: Vote with your Wallet and don't give your money to prick companies.

Then again, if Steve Jobs were to beat you to the punch and "officially" support OSX on standard x86 PC's you could kiss my $$ goodbye forever Micrsoft! Sadly, this is not likely to happen anytime soon.
