As someone who use to work in health care, (now searching for a new career) I think its getting harder to interpret your doctor's response, not that they listen less (its a profession that has always bred arrogance) But, they have to consider what insurance is likely to cover, as well as risks of lawsuits. The doctors may be biting thier tongues- because they are not given time or training to explain how insurance proceedures dictate treatment in each case. The American situation is, however only a "problem" for individual young Americans. From the perspective of American companies, corps and gov't; keeping talent local is a good thing.

An obscure group from California provides us around the Charles River with a perenial theme song. Anyways up until a couple of years ago people were indeed advised to have a tetnus shot if they happened to fall in. But the river has been cleaned up quite a bit and has recently been declared clean enough (from bacteria) to swim in. Considering the old maze of poorly documented drainage pipes into the Charles from different municipalities, this is quite an accomplishment. So I imagine there's hope for St John's, too!

I agree with you on all counts. Novell's acquisition of Ximian and SUSE should also help continue making package installation on linux easy and manageable. Of course the /. posting of the Computerworld article insinuated that Chris Stone single-handedly championed open source software, when the actual article suggested he only favored a certain approach, Etyenne. ;->

Of course, but you're not neccessarily an "advocate." I'm not sure that Novell, or more specifically, Stone, is promoting open source for anything other than self-interest, which is also fine and OK, but I don't consider it "Advocacy," especially when there are so many who advocate open source without ever hoping to receive financial benefit. I'm glad you're an open source businessman, and you certainly can do good things for Free (or "Free"?)
