    I think the feeling is cracks are an indication of impending failure. Can you imagine what would happen if NASA lost a fully crewed Dragon to a problem it already knew about?

    The turbine cracks seems to be more of an issue for manned flight.

    Yeah, I agree. I avoid "begging the question" in my writing, along with similar phrases like "could care less".

    Unfortunately dictionaries and style manuals have thrown in the towel on this one. "Begging the question" just doesn't mean what it used to mean any more. Not even officially.

    Of course. It would be better if the people using it were all experts. But having it secured, as much as possible, by default is better than nothing.

    Technology should be secure by default. Not everyone is an expert in IT security, and most people don't understand enough of the context to ask the right questions.

    The thing is, to most of us it seems quite a hyperbolic stretch to go from restrictions on what foreigners we allow into our country to "Muslims, Hispanics, and Blacks".

    Apparently all means, legal and otherwise, are legitimate ways for Democrat friends to let us know just how upset they are they didn't get their way this election.

  15. You can release something without localizing it. I don't see the harm in saying "The game comes out on such and such a date, and will be available to everyone. The Japanese version will be available on this other, later date."

    BTW, the part about knowing who's going to use the door and who isn't is probably doable with cameras and enough processing power.

    The people are psychic, too. When the door is going to open the just confidently stride through. When a virus takes over the ship (or whatever) and the door won't work the crew smoothly stops in front of it, even if they had no way of knowing it wouldn't open.
