SOMEBODY needs step up and slap MS down a peg or two. The Justice Dept had them dead to rights before the hanging chads coronated Dubya President and the Feds rolled over an played dead.
Microsoft's strategy makes perfect sense - use your dominance in one market to gain an unfair advantage in another area and wipe out the competition.
Real Player, Quicktime, Windows Media Player and even Winamp have all been fighting a Multimedia War for Control on the desktop for years. They all want to make themselves the default application for most multimedia filetypes. Bundling WMP with the OS definitely puts Microsoft in a better position to become the default standard - at least for people with only half a clue.
>>>.
Wow. I'm stunned. I guess this is why I don't come to/. for investment analysis.
Uh, Is this the ONLY reason you don't look to a techie-nerd site for financial advice?
Would you want a stock broker to install your computer?
For anyone interested.
They're probably redundant - the first one has more sigs right now.

From this crowd I expected altered lyrics to fit the topic.
Off Topic, I always thought Back in Black would make a great Rap song. The original is barely sung, ans the whole attitude of the lyrics sounds like they're straight from the boastful 'G' side of hip-hop.
Portable Mp3 CDs are the best way yo go right now, imo. Unless you're a jogger or something.
You can take it to the car or on the road, and you can listen to the CDs in computers and dvd players also.
At the 'standard' 128k/s you can fit over 10 hours of music on a single CD - at leas 6 hours worth of 192k/s songs. Great for random play and having every CD of oyur favorite artist on one or two discs.
Hot many times has Jaws or the Godfather been released on Video?
You don't know, becuase no one keeps track of that shit. Movies that sell well are re-released multiple times becuase there's a market for them. Otherwise people try to unload over 'out of print' versions on ebay and elswhere as over-priced 'collectibles'.
The SE's came SIX YEARS AGO on video, they mostly sold out and were going for twice the retail price on e-bay, then were released again around the tim of TPM - FIVE years ago.
Compare that to the Double dipping of the LOTR saga - basic edition released then an Expanded edition released 4 or 5 months later - with different extras.
yet no one complains about New Line or Peter Jackson's 'greed'.
Haven't you been paying attention?
Ever since the SE's came out in 1997 Lucas has been saying that these are the only versions that will be released.
It's seven years later and you're SURPRISED that the SE's are going to be the ones released on DVD?
>>>>the real purpose of DRM in this case is not to prevent copying, it is to facilitate per-view fees and the "rental model" for movies.
You speak the truth. It's to bad the bog medis companies haven't learned that they can't control a copy of a product once they sell it to someone.
I don't know about the Illuminati, but Disney and Microsoft combining for anti-Fair Use (DRM)activities is surely a signl The of the Coming of Cthulhu.....
The Phone company could easlily record every conversation that goes through their lines, but then all that would be possible up for subpoena if there are ususpected concersations dealing with illegal subjects.
Master, I have to admit, without the Google Troopers this would not have been a victory.
Well somebody had to say it.

That's what I want. A portable DVD player with NO screen, just video and audio OUT jacks, that will work like a regular CD Audio/MP3 CD Player.

Rule 1: The woman is always right Rule 2: In case the woman is wrong See Rule 1.
More Science, More human exploration, and NO WEAPONS in Space!
I want to be an Macho Nerd!
Sounds like a perfect match. Maybe, after the merger, when Disney goes under they'll take my cable company with them.
Those b@stards ripped me off!

Come one! The hearing was probably at least an hour long, so you need to download 9 hours of songs to balance things out.
