I am an 'Average Joe C programmer' and have used Joomla to create at least 4 simple sites in under a weekend of work (including writing my own templates, and components).
My only complaint with Joomla has been that the CMS does not have automated way to download and install CMS/component/template/module updates (e.g. something like apt-get update/upgrade). Unless you keep on top of security patches your site is very likely to be cracked within a year in my experience. However, that said, if you keep on top of the updates the you're likely to save yourself a whack of work by using Joomla.
Joomla 1.0.x, and 1.5.x, have both been amazing and keep getting better IMOP! I look very forward to 1.6!!
So will user feedback be included in the update? Will the game be any better?
I expect no on both accounts. Sounds like someone needs to take some lessons from Valve.

Teachers pick text books on the grounds that:
- the book is affordable by school/students
- the book is useful
Technology used in school should be selected on these same rules!
Let's not fart around here... this is a really easy choice these days... just go grab ubuntu/debian/fedora etc and move with your life instead of having BS meeting about "Computers are hard!"

This has to be a joke! Are the php people idiots... people love and crave familiarity... and where i am from "::" is a scope operator. Maybe the lazy buggers don't like lexing for two characters instead of one. Java suceeds because it is familiar, C# same, etc etc... use your GD heads!
My god People Know The Answer... the answer is beyond simple... and any other answer is simply BS...
1.) Clear, simple, and familiar grammar/semantics in the core language.
2.) Simple well documented techniques for creating multiple domain specific extensions (i.e. libraries).
3.) Multi-platform compiler/interpreter support.
Now stop wasting my time with this trivial crap...
