To be quite honest, I don't think the market for left-handed mice is really significant. I'm left-handed and use my mouse with my right hand, and everybody else I know who's also left-handed do the same. In fact, in my entire life I've only seen one person use his mouse on left.
Anyway, ergonomic mice are annoying. Get a symmetrical mouse. Logitech's original optical mouse is my favorite, even the left and right buttons are at the same height (that is a common error in symmetrical mouse design!). I like the fact that whenever I feel like it (like when I use the numeric pad for an extended amount of time), I can switch to the left hand without any problem.
A agree with you on wireless keyboards, but as for wireless mice, I think it's pretty nice not to have a damn cable that can sometimes cripples your movements, and get stuck somewhere on your desk. (I have yet to buy one myself though, because the mouse I use right now works fine enough)
How often do you "upgrade" a freaking mouse anyway?
Is the laser so much better that you had to buy it? Is your other mouse broken?

Speaking of which, does anyone else here find it completely outrageous and unacceptable that the OSTG sells ad space to Microsoft? Yeah, the OSTG is here to make money, but Microsoft's "Get the facts" campaign speaks against the very essence of what the OSTG stands for. If that's not hypocritical, then I don't know what it is.
Unless you're talking about a fully DRM'd OS (and we don't want that, thank you very much), there is no such thing as an OS secure enough to be immune to viruses & spyware, and if there was it would basically be unusable.
Unfortunately asking most non-geek people to "use common sense" does not do much. I have enough trouble explaining my family why an ad that disguises itself as a dialog box is NOT a dialog box and that they should not click them.
'Aging' ripped videos, as in aging wine, so the quality of the video increases from standard to high definition?? That's beyond stupid. Their PR dept sounds like an 8 year old making up shit from stuff he heard about computers. And alcohol.
Another stupid part: "In terms of codecs, the Cell has the power to easily transcode high-quality [pictures and audio] in real-time. So [file] formats won't really be too important," File formats won't be important? So the PS3 magically reads everything? What are they trying to say? Of course, whenever we hear Sony talk about "formats" (either software or hardware), it ends up being another stupid proprietary format nobody wants, so whatever.
Finally: "The PlayStation [3] is not a game machine. We've never once called it a game machine," Just shut the fuck up already. The entire goddamn world will call it a game machine because IT'S A GAME MACHINE, JUST LIKE THE PS2 WAS.
"and is pretty funny to see a young Ballmer (was bald back then too) carrying on and ranting so much about Windows like is was some kind of kitchen appliance."
Now I want an Cell-powered ATX (and/or miniATX) motherboard. C'mon IBM, that would be sweet.
And of course if it ever happens, I hope they'll be cheap enough to justify buying one for non-serious uses. Seriously, PowerPC ATX motherboards (ie. Pegasos) are way too expensive.
Enhance BT's image?? I think it's safe to assume by now that Bram Cohen doesn't give a fuck about whether BT is used for legal purposes or not. As long as more people get to use it, he recieves more donations, so the more the merrier, whatever the purpose.
And yes, that's a real shame. The original concept of using BT as a legitimate load balancing method was good, but nowadays it's unfeasible since BT is being constantly labeled as a piracy application, and therefore many places block it and because they think it is strictly designed for illegal purposes. I've heard more than once from people fighting with their school campuses' IT so they can get BT access to download Linux ISOs or trailers from Blizzard, but in the end having BT access would dramatically increase piracy so they keep it closed.
But hell, maybe that was just a cover, and Bram was really aiming at piracy purposes afterall.
That's the COOL thing about the Phantom. It's non-material, so it takes no physical space at all in your living room. Eat that Nintendo! Your console is still very space consuming compared to the physics-bending system that is the Phantom!
Not that I am particularly pissed about it, but I still think Blizzard should reconsider. I'm sure there is a high enough demand to see Ghost on PC. Afterall, 100% of the Starcraft fanbase is composed of PC gamers.
Anyway, their loss. Personally I have bought every game Blizzard has released since Warcraft II (except for WoW, I don't have time for MMORPGs, altough I admit this is the first MMORPG ever I find interesting). As I don't own any (current-gen) console, I won't buy Ghost. And I'm sure I'm not the only one in the same situation.
The CPU is only the tip of the iceberg. Yeah, it's not a problem for Microsoft since they already have an excellent x86 emulation core from VPC. But the CPU is only a small part of the original XBox hardware. The rest of the hardware was provided by nVidia, which Microsoft made an enemy by going ATI for their new hardware, so you can count on it that nVidia won't allow Microsoft to emulate their hardware.

You had to wait until AFTER Apple switches to Intel chips to say that!

No, Darwin is a flavour of BSD. And no, BSD is not a flavour of Linux.
Suggesting Linux instead of OSX in an apple.slashdot.org article? Anti-Linux zealots incoming in 3, 2, 1...
Can you plug a Sun keyboard on a PC (ie. PS/2 or USB) ??

It's not?

It's only a matter of time before they get iSued by Apple.

"Care to name a few ways it exceeds Matlab besides being free?"
Why? He didn't claim that Octave was superior. Just that it's a nice free alternative. What's the problem with that?

An advantage?? Oh please. A fighting game where a button masher can beat an expert is a shitty fighting game.

Wow! So it did make your internet faster!! Intel was right all along!

On the Vivendi flagship USS Blizzard...
Operator: I'm picking up a transmission, captain.
Captain: Open channel.
WE ARE SLASHDOT. YOU WILL BE BOYCOTTED. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
Captain: Oh crap. Slashdot DID develop a collective consciousness after all.

That's not an option, as nVidia is quite pissed at Microsoft now so there's no way in hell they're going to cooperate.
Besides from what we can tell right now Microsoft seems more to be going the "recompilation" route, not emulation.
Almost, there's a grave accent on the a (à in HTML), so it's "voilà"
I stopped reading the review after the reviewer said "It's usually a good sign when a manufacturer pays close attention to its packaging."
I guess it's Apple compatible too. Haha.
