If you break it, who has to fix it? ME. So it becomes my job to make sure you cant break it. This is way harder than it sounds because users constantly are more "creative" than I can imagine. They will cover those oh so useless chassis air intake holes with creative art drawn by their creative children. Power supply fan noisey? Ill just jam a pencil in there! Put transparacies in a laser printer to print their oh so creative overheads? Why not! its a Printer! First one gets stuck? Hmm whats a creative solution for this.. I know, Ill send ANOTHER one through! that will surely dislodge the first piece of melted fuser goo. Uhoh! Seems like this printer cant handle my overwhelming creativity! Ill just silently walk away informing no one!

They can express their creativity by installing cool screen savers! wtf IT! why'd you put all these popups on the backend???
By copying 30 gigs of oh so lovingly created wav remixes to their desktop roaming profile!
By creatively "fixing" other peoples templates on a network share!

Well it's UNATTENDED macroing. Obviously, no one can make macros illegal as they can perfectly rplicate user input as to be indistinguishable. The issue is probably that a GM comes on, sends you some sort of private message, then another one in like 10 minutes. If you dont respond then they kick/ban.

Its a sensible restriction in most games to ban unnattended macroing. I am against banning tools as well, but it would be different if they were watching the screen while running this app.

Imagine trying to convince someone that 1) to run wireless you have to BUY a router 2) even if I had a wireless router I would secure it properly 3) I know what I have in my own house. See for him, wireless is just like magic air dust. If you cant see it, how do you know its not there, or that you are secure?

Luckily for these customers, 'im sure' and 'come on' arent actually legal arguments or the defense of anything but your particular opinion.

The correct thing for amazon to do would be 1) Ask politely for their money back from the customer. 2) Suspend their amazon account if they dont pay. That solves both parties problems. The vendor gives people the chance for people to act "morally" and if they don't, well thats not someone we really want to do businesss with anymore. I have been involved as a vendor in a similar sort of 'coding fucked up some prices' issue, and thats all we were legally allowed to do. You kind of have to constantly be cycling through firebolts and arcane missles, the arcane aoe spell, fireblast, etc.. to be good at pvp.

Although I would agree that if your raiding, the rules of the raid tend to proclude any creativity. Thats kinda why I quit playing. What fun is mashing icebolt 5000x in a row in mc? Just be glad your not a healer. From what I understood that was even more boring on raids.

"I think the standard argument here is that if a composer or musician can't or won't perform live, then they're not real musicians"

I read alot of these discussions, and thats the first time I've heard that. For most musicians I personally know, they would much rather that their music be heard by people, that people visit their myspace page, and that they get a chance to be discovered and enjoyed. Sure they would love it if they got paid to perform or release, but they are content to work doing construction or selling phones in the mall. Music for them is like playing a RPG for me. I don't expect people to pay me for playign eve online, I just like doing it so I play!

One of the problems I have with music is the over abundance of supply. If you look at the new CD's uploaded on something like mininova, you see hundreds of titles a day. There will never be a time when people don't make music. It is fundamental to the human condition and most people respect you if you can make them feel something with what you create.
I dont think ive ever met a musician who didnt have a day job.

Well I never go into stores like best buy, but I'd imagine they are pretty hard to steal from. Dvds however are small and im sure if you could get it out of its case, you could probably stick it down your pants - sans magnito tag. So I dont buy DVD's, and I dont steal them. What I do do however is copy them from various sources, including the internet. This isn't really depriving anyone of a product since I tend to return the favour whether by uploading, sharing other media to dvd lenders, or simply returning the dvd that they have lent me. Also, no money changes hands so I do not feel as if I have bought anything. I assume all this puts me into your "dont steal, dont buy" guideline.

Do you really think that people breaking into stores and stealing physical DVDs is a huge problem for the industry? Who is saying stealing from anyone is OK? The article has not put forward that point. Perhaps you are using the wrong terminology when you say that this is "stealing" as I am having trouble understanding your phraseology.
