When they say you need a free day pass, someone will undoubtedly have posted it in the comments. That's what I check first. NYT is no problem for me, but Salon is annoying. RTFC.
lie
noun
1. A false statement deliberately presented as being true
lie
verb
1.To present false information with the intention of deceiving
In October 2002, Bush said Iraq had "a massive stockpile of biological weapons that has never been accounted for and is capable of killing millions."
That is a true statement. The stockpile still to this day hasn't been accounted for. We KNOW that he had the stockpile at some point. Bush never said Saddam has a stockpile now.
I have a funny image in my mind of a bunch of guys in turbans getting an order from Saddam Hussein over the radio. "Destroy the WMD! UN says so!" (in Arabic) and then them all getting insanely drunk and then blowing up rockets outside their base, and then drinking some more. Then Saddam radios in, "Guys, remember, we need to furnish proof" and they've been unable to present the weapons or proof of destruction since.
Bush and Blair may indeed have made false statements, but they were not necessarily deliberately false.
M$ will come out of this looking worse if SCO really is (and I believe it) up a creek without a paddle here. After all, who is helping finance their (SCO's) vendetta?
People deliberately lie for two reasons: To get what they want, and avoid conflict. I think he falls into the first category. He sure as hell doesn't belong in the second.
It's pretty that a large scale migration is going over this well. The US government is probably a long way away from Linux, because they say that "Munich is not expected to be up and running on open source until the end of 2005" so we can't say that it's working well enough to make the change worth it for some time.
On the other hand, the source code leak could provide enough trouble for MS users to make the change more appealing.
I keep thinking "Donkey Kong" and not "King Kong" while reading these comments. Maybe I spent too many happy hours as a young child with a SNES controller in hand.
We in the US are last to get this technology because we embrace it not as fully. We still have lots of landlines and service that isn't as crappy as the ones that I used in London. Europe seems to have less advanced systems, so they are more eager to make the jump away from their crappy POTS. We live in a land filled with mediocre service that people don't hate fullly enough.
I actually bought a CD! The last time THAT happened was back when Sehnsucht came out, in 1999. Of course, since it was on an independent label, they had to order it, but I didn't pay shipping, even though I had to wait a week. That's the benefit of buying in a store.
Can't forget this set of instructions.
I'd hate to see a video rental store that didn't offer that.

The exact same thought ran through my mind.
Brothers we are.
No. Hardcore geeks drink Bawls, Jolt, Redbull, or they do what I do: take NoDoz.

Geordi LaForge (played by Lavar Burton)? But he's not as interesting as Scotty!
NASA doesn't seem to be able to build a damn thing without parts falling off...

...and then someone's going to say "Looks like his server is made out of legos!"
I can just feel it.
God would have a single digit UID.
I'm switching to Linux on Sunday. I'm still undecided which distro, although I'm looking at either Debian or SuSE. Suggestions?
I know that your distro of choice is very good, I'm looking for suggestions, not trolling.

It struck me as funny.
It's photoshopped. If you zoom in on the "LINUX" on her panties, the color of the text is #FFFFFF. That doesn't happn in real life.

I agree. Online, there's more than just #FFFFFF and #000000, just like in real life.
I'm on there, on the top 100. Beat that. Me!
Aristotle taught that. It's the "Doctrine of the mean."
If Darl will have the GPL declared unconstitutional by the end of 2004?
Not just any honest to goodness bastard... A litigious bastard.
