When laws are passed, the *only* people who pay for them are the consumers. That's it. Nobody else. So New Mexico ersidents will be getting the shaft.
One thing that pisses me off is the passing of laws because they look good on paper. Yes.. we all want to work on eliminating DUIs and the accidents/deaths attributable to them. But this new law is a bit extreme. How are you going to enforce it?! What if I happen to know a little bit about electrical engineering and rewire my car to disable the breathalizer? Are cops going to pull me over and check it? I doubt so. Police officers cannot even keep up with the number of speeders, let alone those who disable their breathalizers.
And what's the idea with these "rolling retests?" Sounds to me like they'll be distracting the driver for *more* than can be afforded. Hell, people get into accidents because they looked down at their radio for 3 seconds. What is 30 seconds going to cause?
Here's a freakin' novel idea.. Let people know the risks of driving. If they accept thsoe risks and get into their vehicle and drive, then it's their problem. Government CANNOT solve al problems. So back the f*&% off!
If someone's willing to pay for the phone number, let them. I mean, who cares? Besides, a phone number can be a commodity if there's a market for it. So sell it if you can!
Duh.. So you've got a bnunch of guys who are coding these great applications and are willing to give it away. Sure, no one is making a real profit on open source software, but it's still capitalism.
I don't know exactly how to phrase what I mean, but I think some of you may have a feel for what I mean. Open source is still capitalism!
Now I can have the super muscles I've always wanted. Just wait 'til your inbox is flooded with "One pill a day and you can have super muscles, too! I don't know how it works, but it does!"
won't work.. you think they actually read their emails? it would be my guess that the emails go through a few screeners first. so if the aim is to piss off some low-level peons, go right ahead. all i know is that those bastards better not be spamming me..
..just so happens to be build in the middle of the freakin' desert! Not exactly fertile.. So, though this may hold true for a lot of cities, there are many exceptions.
When we get off of binary, then we'll be making progress, in my humble opinion. I mean, we've been using binary for-ever! Imagine the size and speed gains we would get if we could now have three or four states per bit.
I actually knew about them. Supposedly the first one (or the first attempt) was landed on the moon the same day as Neil and Buzz. Too bad a rover is nothing compared to men.
What we need is a tertiary computer. We've been using the same lame-ass binary system forever and it has its limits. It seems to me that, instead of developing better PCs, we just make them all faster. Bleh! You know the old addage (sp?).. work smarter, not harder.
I've actually had this idea myself. I brought it up amongst friends and they seemed to agree, to an extent. I mean, what good is a solar panel gonna do in Washington, Land of the Eternal Drizzle? Here in Las Vegas it could do wonders as we have 300+ days of sunshine per year. So perhaps it would need to start on a state-by-state basis.. perhaps Arizona could start us off.
Why should we bring back energy for anyone other than us? If its Americans going there, it's gonna be Americans using it. We don't mine drill for oil in Alaska and coal in W. Virginia just to share the wealth with Burma.
Truth is, I would be just fine with abandoning everyone except Britain and Israel. These two are America's ONLY allies.

And I'm glad the US didnt sign hose treaties.. especially the ICoJ one.. to hell with that.

To hell with shipping.. just have the thing flown to the nearest airport!
I, for one, would love to own a restored P-51.. WWII aircraft have so much more character than any jet-powered aircraft.

In all fairness, I submitted the story with the article's actual title of Research team clones human embryos.

Anyone know how quickly it responds to changes in CPU usage?
Incorrect.. Just last night I saw an image of the moon taken from Hubble.
hubble cant get great resolution either.. things would still look like a worthless fuzzy spot (if it's visible at all).
hahaha!! awesome!

I think it's the World Health Organization who says one could stay alive on 1 USD/day. American poverty.. what a joke.
Sorry folks. You will all need to pay me one US dollar each time you make an HTTP request.

I paid more for books this semester than I did for freakin' tuition!

Nobody ever said it would be kept in the US. American companies would be mining the stuff.. sure, but we'd sell it to everyone else as well.
:-\
And as far as the solar panel thing goes.. good luck getting that passed 1) the eco-nuts and 2) convincing the nations of the Sahara to go along.
Perhaps, but good luck in 1) snatching it from the planet and 2) getting it back in sufficient quantities. :-\
