So, who created the Creator? Did It just spring up out of the aether?
ID does not address that question. Any answer to that question is as good as any other as far as ID is concerned. ID only talks about a "designer", however he came about.
Dumbass... the federal court decision was made by a Republican Judge.
Dumbass... he did not say republican/democrat. And he wasn't talking about that recent court decision.
It's the same thing.
Dumbass... its a completely different theory. Mimicing the intellectuals who actually really argue the case for random evolution does not make you smart. You can't even distinguish the different schools of thought.
Who made the intelligent being? And if no one made him/her/it which is much more complicated than the universe, then why did someone have to make the universe?
Good question. But that can really be answered by science, can it?
The problem is really that most people don't really understand what ID is. When it comes to the issue of the origin of life, it is very difficult for people to remove their emotions from their rational process. Those that don't believe in God will look at intellegent design as something that they already know to be false and those that DO believe in God will look at Neo-Darwinism as something THEY know to be false. Thus it happens that neither can understand the other side's argument.
It is important to understand that ID and the theory of Evolution do not disagree per se. It is ID and Neo-Darwinism that disagree. There are two important issues to be looked at when attempting to discover the origin of life:
(1) the specifics of how life evolved from a scientific point of view, ie natural selection etc. (2) The "big picture" of how the planet is full of human beings now where it was once only a molten planet.
When it comes to the first issue, ID does not disagree with Neo-Darwinism. Natural selection is not disputed. The fact that there are mutations that often result in new speicies is not disputed. These are the scientific phenomena that were the steps taken to get us to where we are now.
It is the second point where Neo-Dawinists and Intellegent Design proponents disagree. Neo-Darwinists think that the mainspring of evolution is natural selection acting on random genetic variation. In otherwords, it was an unplanned, unguided and random process.
Intellegent design simply states that the state of life on Earth is far to complex to be attributed to a random process. The fact that life has evolved to its current state and is flourishing is a statistical anomoly. Intellegent design states that the complexity of existence cannot be explained by simple chance, and that there must be a "prime mover" that is guiding the processes of evolution and natural selection.
The fact is, the second issue (which is the most commonly debated it seems here on slashdot) is more philisophical than scientific. For those that really want to understand the other side (I know that many cannot, for their bigotry overwhelms their intellectual hunger) I would suggest that you read this article. It is a treatise written by a prominent Christian thinker about the origin of life.
Many of you may have guessed by this point that I agree with ID. However, please do not mistake my intent. I am not trying to CONVINCE anyone of anything. I merely want people to be CLEAR on what ID really is. It is important when discussing such a charged topic as the origin of life for there to be clarity as to what each side REALLY believes.
Yes, the idea of counter-rotating blades has been around for a long time. However this is innovation, because it has actually been implemented correctly. To draw a comparison, the idea of quantum computing has been around for a while, but they have yet to be implemented properly. When quantum computers begin to roll off of the production line, that will certainly deserve an science award of some type.
Evolution and natural design are NOT mutually exclusive. Did you know that before you mocked a seriously backed theory? Natural Design simply states that the forces of evolution and natural selection are not smart enough to arrive at the complexity of life that we see today by themselves. Arriving to the state of life today could not be random, but must be guided by some higher level intellegence - which is usually assumed to be God. People should actually research things before condemning them.
Slashdot Hive Mind overload!!!! Bush administration evil... but... music industry evil.... can't side with Bush... but can't side with Sony..... aaaghhh!!! segmentation fault (core dump).
Both radiation bugs in both cases have killed less people then the shiteware used in Patriot missile system
The patriot missle was never designed to intercept other missles. It was originally designed as a fast-deployment anti-aircraft weapon. When Saddam started launching Scuds at the Kurds, the US wanted to invest some money REALLY QUICKLY in getting a missle system that could stop some of these scuds. The quickest way to do this was to contract Raytheon to quicky modify their anti-aircraft missle system to be much more precise and hit other missles.
In other words, the Patriot missle system used during the 1st gulf war was just a quick kludge, and considering, it actually worked pretty well.
BTW, by saying the the Patriot missle system killed people are you implying that its failure to shoot down scuds is guilty of murder?
A little bug it didn't fix is one that came up when I downloaded 1.0.6. I always click the spin wheel on my mouse to open a link in a new tab. This used to always work, but now it only works on certain link. It is a little strange, but I think if the link is in bold or italics or is a jpeg, then it does NOT work. If it is in just plain text, then wheel clicking works. For examples, got to here. Try wheel clicking on the "Read More..." link of any article. This does not work for me. Then try clicking on any of the Sections ("Apache", "Apple", "AskSlashdot", etc.) This DOES work for me. Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a fix for this????
But I think that someone who knows more about children would be better to make such a claim.
I actually disagree. They said the same about tv, and it is obviously not true. I love the internet, but I'll keep my kids away from it until their imaginations have developed on their own instead of needing some other aparatus to feed them info/entertainment.
Actually, earlier in the day, he had a short paragraph (not a link) about this piece of news before it was up on yahoo or anything else. Now it is everywhere, and he is just linking to another story.
BTW, remember that Drudge is from America, and here we don't need press credentials to be allowed to report, unlike most of Europe. All you need is an inside scoop and a modem!:)
is the autolink to google maps. Since I can't customize the toolbar, I am uninstalling it now.
- I don't care about having a google searchbar, thats what the addressbar in firefox is for (just type "google computer store" to search for "computer store").
- I certainly don't need a button to search for news on google. How often would you use that?
- Spell check could be useful, but do I really need a button for the few times I would use it?
- Do I really need an options button? Couldn't that be a menu or something?
Basically, I hate having buttons that take up real estate when I am hardly going to use them. Why can't this toolbar be "customized"?
That some dummy blames our whole education system on a news network that is only a few year old, or that he is modded insightful?
People need to get a sense of perspective, geez.
TFA says that the.rar contains a file like foto.jpg.exe.
I actually believe that if Windows didn't "Hide the file extension for known types", as is the default setting, viruses would be a much less serious issue. In other words, what they see for that file is "foto.jpg". They know what a jpg file is, and forget the Windows is actually hiding the true file extension. I think most people actually know that you shouldn't open an exe file from an unknown source, but hiding the file extension makes people forget. Just another example of how very often trying to make computers "easier to use" actually makes things more of a pain in the butt when it comes down to it.
To be honest Stallman has done some great work, but he personally bugs me. He is super annoying, egotistical and arrogant. But he has done some damn great things.
Bet you it will take a hell of a long time for you to make up for that with your own investments.
You obviously don't understand IRAs. Money you invest in an IRA will grow far more than doubling. So you still make a ton more money. Plus, you are right, the businesses will stop paying such high payroll taxes. Which means they will have more money. Which means you can make more. Or if you are the owner of a small business, you obviously are benefiting.
Democrat/Republican aside, this should be a no-brainer.

Drudge had more info earlier. Now it is just a link to a news site.
And he may be a jerk, but his news scoops are some of the best around.
Come on, nobody's ever going to need more than 64 K/second of bandwidth.

Hey, take a deep breath and say: SERENITY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or maybe you'd like that.
there is also nothing wrong with modding you down for being an idiot.

If you haven't read the comments yet, do it. They are hilarious. Here are some samples.
I hate the state the obvious, but, why not get two computers?
